By which I mean that the more forums/sections you have, the more work there is for the existing moderators. So you end up looking for more moderators. Good moderators can really make a forum work, but bad ones; especially the autocratic "you DARE to question my judgment, Earthling?" can drive people away.:D

It wasn't directed terribly well (sorry:() and was triggered by a different thread ( divide up grande punto section ). The point was that the more sections you have, the more work the existing moderators have to do.

The majority of GP owners/users in the GP section are no problem. They are friendly, accept others views & we all get on well (no one has ever been banned from GP section;) ).....the problem as mentioned is new members posting new threads without searching beforehand or in the wrong section which is why the 'stickys' are there to help.

As GP moderator I only have to move couple of posts a day, edit the odd 'swear' word & the rest runs itself as the GP crowd(as mentioned)are a good lot:)

I know it varies from one to another, but on average how much time would a moderator spend on the site moderating?

really depends, and we are rarely on 'moderating' IYKWIM
your online looking around and things crop up,posts are made, discussions occur either in the main forum or the mod bit AKA pick on T zone.
there is crossover on mods and the supermods(do do doo do do do dooooooo) can take up the slack for anyones section if section mods are offline.
eg im on early starts so if something arises late at night im not online

personally i probably rack up 2+ hours a day but can be a lot more

the new panda section and uno, is pretty much like the GP most of the users know what goes where and why, and there is very little in the way of issues, no bans, every now and then a post has to be moved to a more appropriate area, or some for sale/wanted threads taken off, and if i do i will as a courtesy send a pm to explain why, however it has to be noted despite that, it has usually been the other person who has blasted back "how dare you.........". but generally it's fine and i have more time to arse about in LL and nosey in some areas i never used to....like stilos and coupes....
