I did a similar thread a while ago, thought it was about time I did another.

If anyone has any complaints about the forum and the way it is run things you think could be improved then please let us. PM Ben or myself, or post on here if you wish.

I think the forum seems to be going well atm, we have a shop and keeping up to date with the events.

If you anything negative you want to get off your chest then let us know - or even something positive that you particularly like about the forum then we want to know that too. (y)

Not much to elaborate really, if people didn't have opinions then we wouldn't have stupid arguements over sod all. Would probably be a boring place though.
I alo want a certain scotsman to be banned from editing my posts ;)

But that also inlcudes you - its a daft thing to say :p people have opinions and are entitled to them :)

Not when they're not even willing to listen to other people's opinions, i probably do it sometimes but it winds me up when people can't accept there are other opinions :) If you cant accept other's opinions you shouldn't have an opinion in my eyes :)

i have no opinion on this

How about a Scrappy section or is that already covered by the garages section?

we have a sticky thread in lets talk fiat section for that

A Photo contest would be good Say best "shot at a event this year" something like that £1:00 per entry and winner takes all at the end of the year say after Gaydon or sometime...

First of i have been toldto come here and state my views by a moderator.

I think there are a few staff members that abuse there power, they use there powers to pick on other members, act like they own the place and to over moderate the forum. If a normal forum member trys to defend someone else against them or try to defend them selves against these so called "staff members" they receive warnings, bans and abuse from them, i find this very childish, pathetic and unnecesary for such a large and active forum community. Ive been involed in several forums in the last 8 years, and i have never seen such wrongfull use of staff powers before.

The forum is excellent apart from this problem Ben, i normally enjoy being here even though i own a Peugeot and i still find the forum informative and helpful and fun. Its just what ive stated above to be a problem.

thanks

May I just add to Jonny's by saying that there are some reformed character's however who used to "abuse power" but now try and mediate more. I think the new guidelines may well help, but maybe forum users should have some input?

i've seen quite a lot of this over-moderation talk lately.
it seems "moderation in moderation" is the new buzz phrase.
there must be a reason for this.

mods will make mistakes, and they're only human so a bit if natural bias and abuse of power is expected in some cases. personally i dont think there is a big problem, but the systems in place could be improved.

you have to ask, who mods the mods?

when i was recently banned it was very frustrating, i knew i hadn't done anything to intentionally offend anyone, and as far as i was concerned i had not broken any rules, but that doesnt matter if a mod thinks otherwise. i was able to discuss the issue with the appropriate people, and explain that it was simply a misunderstanding. thankfully this resolved the issue amicably, but it would have been better if there was a formal process that was used for situations like this.

there should be a procedure that allows a moderator's decision to be reported (even when you're banned) so that other mods can review the decision and either agree or disagree. that way a ban happy mod will not be able to ban people without other mod's approval. both the mod and user can put forward their cases (maintaining the mods anonymity obviously), and a decision can be made between at least 3 other mods.

otherwise a mod is in a position of power that is open to abuse without any consequence, which always causes problems.

also i think it would be better if you received an email that explains in detail why you were banned, and a detailed PM as well (current brief description is not good enough, there should be a quote showing what you said that was unacceptable, and an explanation of how this breaks the rules) BUT you should also be able to access your inbox when banned so you can actually read the PM (in case you have not updated your registered email address or it not working etc.)

i agree with the mods. its getting a little ban happy in here. and i don't mean to sound like a d*ck but if my mods did that they would be out of a mod position and fast. may i suggest this as it works on my site rather well since i was going through staff left and right by power abuse. In you smod/admin section i belive it would be best to post if you feel a member should be banned, and you should present the reason why, then is should go through the ranks, and if a majority agree, ban the sod. but if it's something thats REALLY bad. ban him/her then talk about it later. that way it takes out most of the power abuse.well besides post editing. but that can be delt with by a type of AE detector, but that might get annoying.

now on a lighter note. would it hurt to get another theme on the go?? :p

other mods do, but like when normal members get an offical warning or ban its not made public

decisions are already reviewed by all the mods before a ban is put in place, except for in an emergency, when we have a troll or someone goes off on one and dont stop.

and there is also 2 emails you can complain to [email protected] and [email protected]

there are also many mods on msn you can add by clicking the little man under their user name

thats how its always been:confused:

As I have ALWAYS said if anyone has any complaints about the mods they can contact myself or ben. Any complaints sent by PM/Email will not be discussed with other moderator in the "backstage" area.

We dont back up mods just because they are mods, if we dont agree with what they have done then it gets sorted.

If anyone has a complaint about me then tell Ben (y)

OK please list how many geniune members that have been banned - not spam bots - hardly any. I wish people wouldnt just assume and listen to gossip.

Nice suggestion - we have been doing that for years :)
