ability to turn swear filter on/off

I think the forum would look rough and chavvy if everyone could see the swearing on there. If people choose to select the swear filter off then thats fine, but i wouldnt want to see it go altogether.
Well yeah that's what i meant but didn't say, basically I'd have it turned off. Swearing isn't chavvy, a lot of people swear, them "aristocrats" that were on channel 4 swore like truckers!

Well you could have it so you could only turn off the filter if you were a member.
Then guests wouldn't be forced to read anything they may find offensive, and once you were a member it would be your choice.

TXT filter could screw with my spelling tho!

guess who's coming to dinner......

OK... not! ****, ****, ass, titties, boner, bitch, muff, *****, ****, butthole, Barbra Streisand!

Erm here's my 2 cents....To filter text speak (AKA TxT Spk) could you not just make a spell check automatically check every post and offer alternative words to mispelt (oh the irony) ones. This would kill two birds with one stone so-to-speak as it would flag up both "|_33T $P3A|<" and swear words and offer more suitable words? Although people could still put them in it would cut it down a lot.

Well, there is already a spell-checker built in [if you use IE, then click on the "ABC tick" box to the top right of the reply box].

Personally, I use Google Toolbar, and the spell checker built into that.

yeah but its optional to use, if it automatically checked the posts (i.e. it was mandatory)it would offer more suitable words, cutting down the txt spk and swearwords. Also that shouldn't be too difficult to implement.
