Hi Folks,

Done my usual Saturday ritual tonight of heading into the next town for a Chinese and a few cans from the Offie. Anyway, car was kinda hesitant to start which it has been on initial startup for the last week or so. Anyway, got it started, first time, just not as quick as I'm used to.

Driving away ans I thought what is that light on the dash? CODE! with the little key symbol! Great, knew I should have turned back but carrried on anyhow. Got my cans from the Offie, turned key, hear fuel pump priming, and then CLICK! and then from me FCUK! Tried it three or four times after that and still CLICK!

Phoned home for a lift out to get the red key but while waiting I decided to try it again, CLICK, CLICK...... you know the rest but then I got pissed off even more and sort of turned the ignition on and off quikly then the next thing BRRRUUMMMM! Bugger started! Seen my Dad coming told him sorry and headed to the Chinese and the cheeky bugger started fine after that. Weird I thought, probably threw a tantrum cos she seen me getting into Mrs Liam's car this morning!

OK hilarity aside, has anyone had similar symptoms and has it led to ECU failure?

Cheers

Liam

sounds like a dodgy connection if anything. check the wiring to the codebox is secure and not corroded or anything. codebox is a black box under the steering colum.

time to chip it maybe? :D

Thanks to both, will have looksie around there, funnily enough I was working on that side of the bay just last week, before all the faffing started.

UPDATE - Checked all pins and connections and they appear corrosion free and are all tight.

Michael, did you have this problem after removing the ECU from your Cinq, i.e. could disconnecting it previously have caused it to get corroded/loose?
