Hi,

Has anybody come across this? While using navigation and approaching a big roundabout, in this case the South Mimms roundabout on the M25 North of London, the RT3 unit locks up. It happened at two approaches to the roundabout and with both cd's 2003/2004 - 2004/2005. The whole unit locks up, you cannot cancel the navigation, use the telephone or any of the radio functions. At first it looked as though the only way to get back to a working unit was to switch the ignition off. I have now discovered that ejecting the Nav CD brings the system back, in fact it once it comes back it remembers at least the last button you pressed during the lockup. The only thing that may be a factor is that the top of the GPS aerial...(Now don't laugh) was pulled off by a Monkey at Longleat safari park. Luckily it got trapped in the gap between the roof and tailgate so I managed to clip it back in and bar a few teeth marks it seems fine. I have used navigation a bit since and it seems to work fine so I can only imagine it is a glitch with the 5.41 software or something to do with the GPS signals at that roundabout.

Hmmm, interesting!

Never experienced this before. BUT I Sunday I had this - coming back up the M1 from Luton airport, I noticed that the RT3 unit had rebooted itself; I was on Nav at the time, and after the reboot it continued where it had left off....

I can't imagine it being an aerial issue in your case!

Have you been down to that roundabout recently? I know it well, family live in Potters Bar.

Yes I have, it was yesterday that I checked it with the 2003/2004 CD. Looks as though in future I will have to wait to start navigation once I have got past this roundabout.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but couldn't resist - I have just been to France in the Uly (04 2.2JTD) and on passing South Mimms, mine locked up too!
Ejected and re-inserted the disc and all was fine.

Was amused when my nav disc didn't have certain new bits of road on - presumably as far as it knew, I was driving across a field. I like the display when using the nav (press mode to get the one) where it counts down the miles to go and estimates the arrival time. Maybe they all do this, it's my first use of sat nav - but it was very accurate.

Computer only showed an average of 31 mpg though - mind you with roof-box and 3 bikes on the back.

Oh, and got my first anti-pollution message - seems related to long journeys - went away and re-appeared on odd occasions, but with no impact apparently.

cheers
