The Fiat Sedici 1.9 multijet 120 specification the mpg official is 42.8mpg & performance of accelerate from zero to 60mph is 10.6 second but is this was test on front wheel drive or 4 wheel drive setting??

when you think 42.8mpg sounds thirsty that must be test on 4 wheel drive?

Some people can drive do more than 42.8mpg has anyone average over 50?

I am look to change from Punto to Sedici but there is no 2.0 diesel sell in UK so I will have to buy the 1.9 sound very thirsty

Hi,

I'm doing 36mpg(UK) but always in 4wd (in auto mode), practically completely in heavy traffic on a new 6 speed 2.0lt multijet (just reached 3k kms on the odo, so its definitely not at its most economical yet).

Having said that, on a 300km highway trip it did 80mpg (UK). Not sure on how the 1.9 fairs but my Sedici is far from being at its most economical... Let's see how it goes 6 months from now.

I know its not the 1.9 you were looking for but I hope its helped a little. I wouldn't expect the 1.9 to be too far from the numbers I'm experiencing at the moment.

I do a trip to work 42 miles if I keep it under 70 as you should I get 49.3 sometimes a little more. Around town 46.5 ish.

It's a 2006 elganza driven in 2wd it is of no benefit to drive in auto in normal driving, only drive in auto in snow or on a field whilst camping. To be honest I only ever pu t it in auto to give the 4 wd a work out every now and then and i've used auto on a couple of occasions in snow last year for a few miles where snow lay and lock in a field to test it worked, i always fit snow tyres for winter so 4 wd is the back if these fail. I do however change all transmission oil regardless of use on every car i have owned on a 2 yearly basis. I've read that when your car is going through a dpf cycle it may use extra fuel as it uses diesel to burn off the soot? I think?

From what I understood from the SX4 forum, the driveshaft still spins even if you're in 2wd so in theory, if that's true, there shouldn't be a huge difference in consumption as some of the drag is still there in 2wd.

With regards to the benefits of running in 4wd while on a regular road, it'll mostly be running with a 95/5 torque split between the front and rear so I agree that you wouldn't generally notice unless you lose traction (eg. hitting an oil patch, aquaplane, sand, massive pothole which is crazy-common here, etc...) - at least that's why I leave it on. I find that in emergencies it can make a difference.
