Hi,

Does anyone know how to replace a gear linkage cable on a Fiat Sedici?

I got in it the other day and the gear lever just 'flopped' back and forward like it's not connected.

I've disassembled some of the centre console and I can see two rods/cables

Any Ideas appreciated!

By the lack of replies it sounds like we're all pretty useless when it comes to gearboxes!

I've had a quick trawl of the web and it seems people link your linkage cable issue to the sticky 1st and 2nd gear issue. People have said that getting the synchro fixed in the gearbox fixes the potential for the gear linkage to snap.

Sorry I can't be of any real help! Let us know how you get on.

If you pm me with your email address, I will try to send you instructions as copied from an SX4 service manual.

The problem we're having is actually finding a replacement cable.
Linkage on my wife's car broke on Sunday (4 days ago) but garage tells me they can't source the part and it will be next Tuesday at the earliest before they can get one from Fiat.:bang:

Just thought I'd give you an update on what is a very common Sedici problem. Just weeks after the linkage cable was replaced it came off again. Luckily, our village garage has succeeded where the Fiat dealer failed. He has welded a loop over the cable end so that it simply can't come off - at least until the weld fails which could take some time. If anyone is having similar problems, then I suggest finding a proper mechanic who can actually fix things rather than a 'technician', as employed by most main dealers.
