I have a 1.6 petrol sedici, brought used from Fiat Perrys in Portsmouth, for over £7000, in June last year. The car is not 4 yrs old and when brought, had just over 26000 on the clock.
Around September a warning light came on, AA man said likely to be cat converter issue but ok to drive.
Light came on again couple more times, i returned to Fiat Portsmouth who said it was the cat converter and they wanted £750 to replace it- this was a couple of weeks ago. It had just over 31000 on the clock at the time.
I heard through websites that there could be a cat issue with sedici's so phone customer care. I was told that as the car was not new to me and just out of its warranty, that the best that could be offered was a 10% discount.
I think a cat converter should last longer than 30000 miles!
I have a local garage quote me just over £600 for replacement [it will be a genuine part, not a copy] but wanted to know if many other owners have this problem and if so, is there nothing i can do about having to fork out this amount of money on a faulty cat converter?
Thanks!
