Hi I seem to have a flat spot at about 1800rpm has any one else experienced this?

It is on a 1.9 Diesel Sedici Eleganza.

Yeah I get exactly the same thing.

I initially thought it was my 2nd or 3rd gear that was screwed but it happens no matter what gear you're in.

So my conclusion at the moment is either it's a problem with the engine map or it's the rev range that the turbo kicks in and it bogs the engine down briefly. The only thing against the turbo theory is that I think the turbo actually kicks in around 2500 rpm because you can hear the change in pitch.

Let me know if you have any other theories! I'm considering taking it in to a FIAT garage who will probably be useless, or (and this is a big gamble), get it remapped with the stock 150 BHP map and see if that smooths it out.

How did you get on at the Fiat dealer? My fault has now advanced and I now sometimes get next to no response when I try to accelerate at revs of less that 2200. It is very intermittenet. I suspect the EGR valve but not sure. Any feed back would be appreciated

I had the same problem, almost certainly the EGR valve. May need a good clean or replacement.

Fiat also intoduced a new swirl gasket too which I would recommend fitting too.

Transformed my engine/running

this is either the EGR valve or the MAF sensor (or both); the inlet mainfold tends to get choked with soot; fairly easy to clean; on my 1.9jtd marea I found this repeatedly choked up so blocked off the EGR with a piece of stainless steel and also disconnected the butterfly valve so it was permanently open; got extra mpg and more power; please refer to my other posts re this....

Try fitting a blanking plate to dis-able the EGR valve - the flat spot at 1800rpm disappeared for me after the fitment.

Finally got the fault cleared. I firstly removed and cleaned the EGR assembly. After re fitting I found this actually made matters much worse! Could hardly go up hills.
Removed it again and this time dismantled the EGR solenoid ( Detail I downloaded but have not found the source again, I would like to thank the guy" I did save a copy" There are four parts inside the solenoid which have to be cleaned and greased before assembly.
Pushing the rod protruding from solenoid did very little before.
Now when pushed fairly hard, produces a distinct click this is the pushing of a small magnet inside ( it was also corroded and I suspect caused the initial glitch")
After assembly I noted that when seating the solenoid on to assembly it sat about 2mm up and had to be lightly pushed down to tighten.
The car is now 100%.
Thanks everyone for you comments :)
