Hi, had a 1.9 Sedici from new (56 plate) done 72k miles (approx 80 miles per day commute) the car has been excellent especially in the snow when I was passing Kuga's, CRV's up snowy hills (locking diff makes all the difference)
Up until now,
car died within 2 miles of the emission warning light coming on (has been a little sluggish so was booked in for a service)
Just been told my particulate filter is full and non repairable, nothing coming out of the exhaust, quoted £2k for a new one! add labour and VAT that's half the cars value!
Any advice gladly taken, it's 4 months out of warranty, am trying Fiat but not holding my breath

You could try what I did - remove the Particulate Filter and drive around with an warning code P2453. If the warning code bothers you there is software which removes the DPF settings from the ECU - although I have not tried that myself yet.....

As for FIAT - they dont give a s**t about your DPF problems......

Hi, You will probably be able to get an after market Particulate Filter, I notice on e-bay they range from £180 - £350, just need someone handy to fit it! There is also a good AA article on line about Particulate Filters, says cars with 6 gears more prone to problems as don't use high revs to get engine hot enough to burn soot off. Hope you have some luck with Fiat. Regards, Steve

Fiat state the optimum speed for regeneration is only 1800rpm/50mph. ;)

My brothers sedici was checked last week at its MOT, passed emissions test with lowest figure the tester had seen, then got checked on examiner as vehicle was going out of warranty, 47000 miles, dpf filter clogged only 29%, dpf differential pressure reading at idle 7 mbars, at 3000 revs 70 mbars. The cars driven normally on country roads and city driving when the engine is warm.
