In the past I've owned an Uno, a Punto and now a Panda. My husband owns a Doblo. We have always been very pleased with our Fiats. My Panda is now getting on a bit so I am thinking of trading it in. I have considered a Suzuki Jimny or a Fiat Sedici. Can anyone offer me their opinion on the Sedici? I don't know anyone who owns or has even driven one.
On another note, my husband and I have always taken our Fiats to Anthony Betts in Hemel for servicing. We have never had any problems from them at all and, apart from one rather arrogant salesman, we have been very pleased with their service.

my partner drives a 1.6 petrol eleganca 2007 reg , 60000 km on the clock now. the car is very good for her as she uses it on small country roads in west cork all the time. it's not to big and not to small either. Suspension is taking all the stress with ease and to my surprise the creaking noises are gone with all the miles. The tyres last for ever ( she drives defensive ) and the petrol consumption is average(7.5lt / 100 km) . For me pesonally the engine is not powerful enough, she only does the job at high revs....what is a typical fiat quality .

OVER ALL A GOOD CAR FOR THE RIGHT BUYER

You're actually looking at two Suzukis, the Sedici is an SX4 with a different badge.

The Jimny and Sedici are two entirely different vehicles.

The Jimny is an aquired taste (a taste aquired by both SWMBO and daughter) Great wee trucks, don't expect car like comfort, but you will go everywhere.

Sedici more car like, much bigger interior, wouldn't want to take it up a mountainside.

Cheers

Hi I have a 56 plate Secidi 1.9 Eleganza deisel bought 4 months ago and am having terrible problems getting the gears from 3rd down to 2nd when the car is cold. I have been told that there is a kit to fix it and the dealer has fitted it but the problem still exists, so I would say check the gears before you agree to buy! I love driving it around Aberdeenshire on the dual carriageway an country roads, but the gear problem is taking the shine off having a FIAT.

I really like my Sedici, but I bought it for it’s 4x4 potential. If I had bought it purely as a hatchback I would have felt sorely short changed. The car is a little noisy, you don’t get a huge amount of extras and the economy is slightly compromised by the extra weight of the 4x4 gubbins. There are a lot of hard plastics in it too. If you want an economical and cheap to run 4x4 that can cope with a bit of off road and can laugh in the face of snow, then get the Sedici, if you are after a comfy, well equipped hatchback with plenty of toys, I’d look to another model.

Wife has a 1.6 Eleganza - done about 8k in it now - Completely faultless.......
Air-Con needed a re-charge and just had its first tyres (rears) but its 3 years old now and done 40K............V.Happy with it.......

I have the 06 1.6 petrol Eleganza. I like the car's hight driver position and the interior but I think my old Punto 1.2 8v had a better engine!

The 4x4 is good. I had it up a hill in the snow no problem (where a Landrover later struggled!) and was great around town with all the recent snow.

My biggest gripe is the fuel consumption. It says a combined average of around 40 mpg, but I struggle to get anywhere near. Rarely does the MPG display creep above 30 and I've also done an actual calculation and it's come out a 30 mpg, or 360ish miles per tank.

How do others find the consumption?

Thanks

31.5 mpg on bendy country roads..............

on long trips 40 mpg .....watch the revs...its a fiat the engine loves them a bit higher than other cars to be economical

I have 56 plate 1.6 petrol Eleganza and despite a few initial creaks, really like it. It is different, comfortable and capable in town and motorway. I would agree that it is not the most fuel efficient and that has an impact when petrol prices are creeping up and the tax disk is increasing based on g/km emissions. Still, I have no regrets getting one though.

36 MPG on a run but we'd have gone for the Diesel if economy was the priority.
been brilliant in its first year with us - 15k done.........We never see another about and the wife loves it

Ive seen a gold one parked on a drive in Kenilworth - so you could go for a drive there to see another if you wanted :p

Unless that's yours ofcourse?!

I nearly crashed when i saw it, such is the rarity!

Our only car, it is a 57 1.9 Eleganza diesel. It has done 20k miles on everything from local farm tracks to very comfortable long motorway journeys 4 up. 42.2 mpg overall average and it has been faultless. It was the envy of the neighbours in the snow:)

I would sum it up in one word "brilliant". We love it and I just can't understand why Fiat haven't marketed it properly in the UK.

Fiat seems to not bother with some of its range, such as the Idea (seen about 4 or 5 so far in total) and the Croma which they withdrew after it "only" sold 900 or so examples a year. Not a bad number considering Fiat never bothered to advertise it.

well what can we say about the sx4/sedici.
for starters it,s got italian styling no bad thing!
it,s got japanese build quality again no bad thing,s there either!
if you,ve had the usuall four wheel drive tool,s landy,s pajero,s etc
you can now have usefull fourwheeldrive and by that i mean real world 4x4
without carrying all that boxy bulk.

So there's two in Warwickshire! Must be going for a record there :p

I couldn't tell what engine it had as the grill (with the engine badge) was facing away from the road when i drove past, but it looked like an Eleganza? It had the alloys to suggest Eleganza anyway i think. :)

I guess maybe the exhaust couldve been a giveaway to the engine type aswell?

Yes Liam - you can tell the Eleganza by them having 'Silvered' Roof bars - the Dynamic has blackened. The Diesel also has 'Multijet' badge on the front grill.

I have seen a dark Blue MJ in the Canley area of Coventry if you know the area too!

Have a "new" 1.6 petrol bought from Fiat direct pre-reg with 10 miles for £7500 about 2 months ago and have done 1000 miles; overall I like it but:
back seats do not fold properly like other Fiats; engine is a bit gutless for a DOHC 1.6 but may improve when run-in and 5th gear is too low
have got a spare set of steel wheels with Pirelli snow tyres and am off skiing tomorrow so will post my experiences
I get 36-37 mpg overall; generally happy but wish I had got the JTD although surprised that others have not achieved better fuel economy with the JTD model

I'll keep an eye out for the roofbars - that's probably the easiest thing to spot on the move!

Im not massively familar with Coventry, i've driven there and round it a few times though. Mostly in Kenilworth as a mate lives there so sometimes pick him up on the way to Birmingham from Oxford (bit of a de-tour)!

I did see a 57 plate bright blue Sedici driving along the seafront (not literally) in Blackpool a couple of weeks ago (not sure of spec), along with a sliver Eleganza in Aintree nr Liverpool on the same day, followed by a black Eleganza in our local town (Witney, West Oxon) the day after!

Was especially pleased as the two up North had local ish number plates, so were possibly bought new by private individuals. Alot of Sedici's seem to have number plates beginning WM, WN, WP, WV, which are usually those given to Fiat Auto Fleet vehicles - ie Fiat company cars or rental fleet cars, hinting that they were bought second hand by the people now driving them.
