Hi,
Hoping there might be someone out there who can help. Our sedici now has a pronounced and quite loud rattle around the centre console. The fiat garage has just serviced it but couldn't locate the source of it. They had a good root around but they said that without moving the airbags, etc they couldn't see it. Basically they said they could have another look but it would mean a quite a bit of work and may not be covered by the warranty unless there is a defect found. Has anyone else encountered this? Are there many sedici owners out there???

fiat sedici 1.6 eleganza 2006
fiat stilo jtd (remapped) 2004

Ours is remarkably rattle-free so can't be of help I'm afraid. But in answer to your last question, there really aren't many sedici owners about.. only seen three in the last two months!

Seems like suzuki are really getting behind their sx4. I've seen 3 sx4s in the last couple of days! Thanks for letting me know they screwed some of the dashboards together well out in Hungary.

 rubbish.....(unless you have a coke can rattling there somewhere) a rattle developes due to something becoming loose/not fitted/built correctly.

problem here is dealer dont want to waste man hours then not get paid by fiat afterwards so they should get prior authorisation beforehand!

Thanks for advice. I will be going back to them this week (fiat warwick - generally I've found them an excellent dealer), will check re the prior authorisation as it sounds like they will need a bit of time to get through to the dashboard area. Best to ensure I don't get charged!

My nearest garage has sold 3 sedicis in last week! Seems that the sedic (and bravo) are starting to sell now that potential customers are taking advantage of discounts & know that the cars have proved themselves reliable.

Have spoken to the service section at suzuki (braylake) and the guy knew straight away what the problem was :spin: - they have had quite a few sx4s back for this problem and issued a dealership wide communication back in December 2006. The problem is centred around the airbag unit - although the solution differs across different cars, sometimes it needs tightening in, otherwise the unit needs dampening - they use additional packing for this. I've told the fiat service centre and they are checking with head office. Will let you know how it goes.

Sedici has been in the garage today and the rattling has been fixed! It was, as advised, the airbag which was the problem - the frame needed tightening. Note there is nothing on the fiat dealer knowledge database about this even though it is well known at Swift. Fix was done under warranty. :p

Mine also developed a vibration rather than a rattle at the front of the dashboard. Apparently it was caused by the air con pipes rubbing together. It was sorted by the dealer, but in the last few days it seems to be slowly happening again. Annoying.

Macfiat whereabouts was the rattle? The wifes 1.6 Ele has had this a couple of times - Not on every journey but occasionally hear a pronouced 'rattle' from the dash centre - seems to be behind the Clock/MPG display under where the centre dash meets the screen to me? Unless my ears are mistaken - and as mentioned its only occasionally? Wouldn't be any airbag frame there surely?
