General Any Sedici Drivers Out There?

We bought a new Sedici last week, the display is in KM. but we want it in MPG.
THe local dealership ar waiting for FIAT to contact them to advise how to do it. In the handbook you can press the small button longer than 2 seconds. But it does no work. ANy ideas thanks

Hello all, my Sedici 1.9 MJ Eleganza is long gone, traded in against a 2.2 SR180 Toyota Auris. In a nutshell, I just was not convinced the sedici would last a long time. WAY too many niggles in the first 6 months.

Anyway, just popping on to answer the questions about MPG and not KL / L.
I had the same problem, and my dealer had no idea. So I decided to mess around and figure it out!

Simply put, the "hold down the button for longer than 2 secs" instruction is correct. However, what the manual fails to tell you is that this only works with the key in position either I or II - (cant remember now). Do not attempt with the engine running, you will be there all day!

Hope this has cheered your day up!(y)

Regards

Andy

Really? What sort of niggles? Forearmed is forewarned...

Been a while since this topic was active, so I'll add one...I just bought a 16 month old Mjet Ele Sedici in Techstep Grey with 10k on the clock for £8500, not sure if thats a good deal, but the cars mint, with FFSH and I'm loving every second driving it. I had a Honda before, love the jap cars, which is why the Sedici managed to swing it knowing the Suzuki link...

...no probs to report other than the awkward dip stick which manages to smear the oil into the little tube it sits in so it gets hard to see levels sometimes and the Hand-brake recall issue.

Did a Sedici section get opened?

Ciao.

Found this vid of someone enjoying their Sedici's offroad abilities...

don't think there is a sedici section here but the suzuki4u webiste has a comprehensive sx4 area and they seem pretty welcoming

I wonder how much longer they'll keep the sedici on the price lists... or perhaps they sell better in places other than UK? .........

According to the Wikipedia page ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_Sedici ), it is the top selling 4x4 in Italy. Although I saw a few last year before I bought mine, I have only seen 1 so far this year - have seen a number of SX4 though. Did happen to park next to both a Fiat Idea and a new Croma on the M1 services last week - a rare threesome in the UK!

here in Ireland there's lots of Sx4 and only a few sedicis so far.........a two wheel suzuki you get for 19 500 € and a sedici is 245oo € only available as 4x4............most people here don't need 4x4...

anyone had a problem with scored discs? one of ours (nearside) looks grooved the other appears fine.

My dad has had sedici for 6 or 7 months and it annihalated a set of discs in the the first four months, scored both sides badly. Incidently are your brakes savage ie throw you through the windscreen at the moment your foot taps the pedal? They changed the pads and discs at last service and touchwood it hasnt eaten these ones yet and the brakes are a bit more civilised though are still a touch sharp.

It had a new gearbox put in 6 weeks after he got it (on warranty thank god), could hardy select 2nd gear.

Got recalled a few months ago for something to do with the handbrake cable which was working fine when it went in then wasn't when it came back out:eek: so went in again to get that sorted.

Since the handbrake incident it hasn't presented any problems and I am well impressed with the leval of torque that the 1.9 multijet churns out. Handles quite well too even if it is a little stiffly sprung as a result.

Looks like it might be getting put in against a new alfa mito though.

thanks for that mightysisley, useful to know it maybe a model issue. it's off for a service shortly and is still under warranty so will ask them to look at the brakes then. we've had no problems other than the disc (it's only been 2 weeks and 600 miles) but we're running a 1.6 petrol rather than the diesel, not sure if they've reported fewer problems. you're right the brakes are very keen....would put rossi's yamaha to shame.

New owner here since Monday. 1.9JTD Eleganza. Cracking little car. Taken carp on other forums for my purchase but i am well chuffed. Perfect as my business runabout.

I mean how can you go wrong, probably the best sub 2.0 litre diesel engine, coupled to a car designed and built by a manufacturer with about 20 years experience of building light 4x4's. Perfect combination, seriously nippy car, capable and economical car.

Hopefully pick up my nearly new 1.9 Eleganza on Wednesday. I too have had a bit of stick form my regular forum……SKODA! no less. Hopefully I will get the last laugh.

had my 1.9 elaganza 18 months from brand new, not had any problems with car apart from premature front pad wear, and it seems to eat front tyres, (but prob the way i drive) is returning av mpg of 38.2, which isnt to bad considering, have fitted a tow bar and pulls small caravan fine, handbrake needed adjusting quite quickly, but i put that down to cables stretching as i'm quite ham fisted, always done my own servicing after a nasty lesson from a so-called citroen dealer a few years ago and find it quite easy to work on. i have grown to love it truth be known, really hated the car when i first got it and thought it was very basic against my trade-in ( a piccasso) but its proved its a great tow car in the 1.9 format,(y)

I have purchased a Sedici Eleganza 1.9 last week (5300 miles on the clock) and drove it from England to Malta. Covered 2300 miles and averaged 40mpg on motorway at 90-100mph.

6th Gear is fantastic - at 90mph your are doing 2,600-2700RPM. Engine is very flexible and full of torque.

Managed an indicated 110mph top speed - GPS indicated 174Kmh. I dont think the brakes are up to hauling the car to a decent stop from 100mph though - rear drums are bit disappointing...

Seats very comfortable - did 10-12 hours sessions per day of driving.

Yes got one but doesn't have the fiat charm - I had a Suzuki Alto when I lived in Cyprus - never serviced it or anything and it did an impression of a Duracell Battery - just went on and on and on and on etc!!! Anyone used one for towing?

Cheers
:)

As of last Monday I am now driving my 1.9 dynamic and still getting used to it. It's very different from my Clio which I had for almost 10 years. Think I'm going to like it though, I hope!

Do like the higher driving position and the power, though taking things easy for now to run it in. OTOH it's a comparatively noisy beast and I'm going to have to have radio at highish volume to hear it properly. Also watch the indicators as you can't hear the 'tick' easily against the engine noise, something my friend complains of with her diesel Yaris so maybe that's just diesels for you.

Have spotted at least 3 around my area in the last couple of weeks but maybe that's cos I'm 'looking' for them now as it were.

Overall it looks and feels like a nice car so don't understand why we don't see more of them.

Hi Deesedici, I actually like the fact the indicators don't make a loud noise when used - but I guess it's something that you have either got used to, or not, with previous cars. I know my brother's Ford C-max makes a right racket when indicating! BTW, I have googled this and come up with nothing, so am I the only one that hates the fake chrome coloured plastic internal door handles? If I could pay to replace them with either some nice real metal ones I would, but it doesn't seem to be offered by Fiat in the accessories list. Shame.

All, just got the wife a 1.6 Eleganza Sedici to replace her Stilo. Quite impressed with it on the 150 mile journey home. OK its no power-machine but its goes OK - everthing works well enough - Looks OK to me and you don't see others around! Bargain price too which I'll not reveal for fear of giving current new buyers a fright ;o))
Anyone know how to get the front grill off as the only fault is a stone-chipped FIAT badge?
Am I right in thinking the 1.6 has VVT and no timing belt?

Hi everyone, i've had my Sedici 1.9 Diesel Eleganza since 2006!! I use it as my works vehicle & bought it because I couldn't justify buying a 'big' off roader as my work does require a little bit of 'gentle' off road driving! I think it's an excellent little car (although my mates still laugh at it! (n)).
My other car is a Honda Civic Type R & I can still remember when I pulled into the garage & told the salesman I wanted to test drive the Sedici. He looked at me & said, it's going to seem really 'flat' compared to the Civic. But I was very surprised to find it was quite nippy. Apart from the body roll in the corners, I think it's an excellent car.

I don't have any regrets in buying mine so far!

I had an identical experience when looking at the Sedici as I have a 123D (almost identical performance figures to the Civic too).

My only problem is the reluctant 2nd gear and the fact that the local FIAT dealer wants me to demonstrate the fault. This is nigh on impossible owing to the warmer weather. I really need the temp to be below 8 or 9 degrees and demonstrate the car when it is cold. The dealer wants me to leave the car with him (reasonable) so he can start it himself in the morning (hopefully it will be a cold morning), but wont offer me a lift home after dropping the car off (unreasonable I think and a guaranteed way of him not getting my servicing). Guess I will have to wait for winter of find a more cooperative dealer in the North West.
