General Any Sedici Drivers Out There?

Bought a second hand Sedici 1.6 Eleganza myself. Compared to my old '96 Brava I would say that the doors don't close with the clunk that the Brava's did. Guess any pro-Japanese quality buyers out there wouldn't believe me on that point. Also hate the fact that the clock is only 12hr, seems a backward step, but guess that is because the Sedici/SX4 was essentially a Suzuki based car for the Japanese and important US market. Otherwise am very happy with it and bacause it is relatively rare it does get a few (positive) looks now and again!

Ive had a 1.9 Eleganza since Jun last year.

Its done 5000 miles and runs well.

Had a bit of a problem where the engine would suddendly give a single "burp" when accelerating in third, but after a few thousand miles, the problem has dissappeared.

Also, when the car gets hot in queueing traffic, it runs a bit "rough" sometimes, although it sorts itself out once moving again - look at honest johns website, this is a common problem on Fiat/GM/Saab derived engines.

Would like a CD changer, but refuse to pay a dealer for it - MOB did you manage to get sorted with fitting one?

All in all, the car is very good, its sure footed, easy to drive (apart from a baulky second gear) and very individual.

Im very happy with mine, it compliments my 1.2 Panda well!

My only concern will be depreciation - I managed to get the car in Bambuca red for £3K off list, but am worried it will only be worth £3K in a year or so's time! Guess I will need to keep hold of it and run it into the ground then!

p.s, it was great fun playing with the 4WD in this weekends snow!!(y)

"The underbonnet area is interesting: there's the familiar Fiat 1.9 mjet engine, but it's devoid of any reference to Fiat. Unbranded, I suppose, so that all Suzuki and Fiat have to do is get the appropriate wheel and body badges plonked on after build. No "Fiat Autos Spa" plate anywhere to be seen. Or Suzuki plate come to that. It's the car from nowhere..."

alfabarry - My Sedici does have a plate under the bonnet stating it was made by "Magyar Suzuki" eg. Suzuki in Hungary.

Anyone know how many Sedicis have been sold in the UK?

We've been Sedici owners since May last year, we brought the car with 31 miles on it and it has been to the garage 3 times.

1000 miles - oil seal had gone

3000 miles - Needed front brakes as the other ones had huge grooves in them.

4000 miles - exhaust started to rattle, baffles had broke down.

Now at 9000 miles the remote central locking is not working correctly, so it needs to go in again.

I must admit, I treat my car like a baby, but these teething problems are really starting to irk me somewhat. Other that that, it is a great little car.

Hi i live near Camberley in Hampshire, picked up my 56 Bambuca Red 1.9 Eleganza (on 19k miles) the other day. Had a 98 Brava before but the engine finally gave up!

Found it good so far. Got a funny feeling the electric window motors will pack up shortly cos they're not exactly smooth. Drives well and doesn't roll around the corners! Only niggle so far is the beeping it does when i change the volume on the steering wheel, easily solved by using the dial though!

Currently seeing if it lives up the the fuel consumption claims. Any way to change the readout from litres per 100km to mpg anyone?

Any warnings about the car other owners have let me know!

Cheers

I sold one yesterday. First one the branch has sold in 5 months!
I sold my first new one yesterday! :D

1.6 16v Eleganza in Techstep Grey (do Fiat have some sort of phobia of the word silver or something? :p )

That's a grand total of 2 now, and the first new one, since I joined in October!

Mine also came with fuel consumption display in l/100km, which actually I much prefer to having to work out litres to gallons, with mpg. I think it does say in your manual how to change it. Something to do with the small button next to the display!

Great choice :slayer:, we also have the 1.6 and my other half loves it! 1.6 engine is very perky, be prepared for a bit of a background drone on the motorway, but it is a lovely car for the money.

if you find a petrol station that sells in gallons, i might tell you how to change the display.;)

good luck

Lucky you! I'm desperate to try out the 4x4 auto OFF proper roads. Sounds like you will be needing it. Let us know how it goes!

well ...........we went for a spin saturday.....must say it's a good ride, firm but not a hopper.
we went off road for about a minute ( motocross track ) but mary didn't like it, so we turned around.....but must say we did some climbing and it was no trouble at all. Had the impression on the road that with low revs the engine is a bit powerless, but after all it's still able to crawl without stalling.(y)

last weekend we did a long trip to the north. For the first time the car saw a motorway and it liked the speeds up to 140 km/h . Above the car gets very sensitive to wind and feels rolly . We did 950 km and used 65 liter petrol.........wich is roughly 7 liter/ 100km...........15 % motorway(140km/h) 80 % national roads(105km/h) 5% minor roads.......(3rd and 4rd gear). :) the over all consumption on the computer went down from 7.8 to 7.6 lt/ 100km which is a great result for a tall car like the sedici.........

the legroom is limited I must say....we are both 6ft and our oldest son is 6ft 4" ............so he had to sit slightly sideways.....but he was happy out:cool: we left the others at home....so we could fit all the luggage.....hmm.......car is a bit smaller than i thought first.....but it's not mine it's mary's and she is delighted wiht her car:D

Yeah I also don't think the fuel consumption is too bad, which is a good thing at £1.10 a litre of unleaded in the UK. I have to be careful though, as on the Brava I knew that when the fuel light came on, it would go off again and I had a little while until I needed to worry. The Sedici just drops and that light seems to mean business!

BTW, just had to take my Sedici back to dealership as there has been a recall. Something to do with the catalytic converter. Anyone else been contacted about this, as it must be a general Fiat (& Suzuki I guess) recall for Sedici.

no we haven't got anything in the post yet.............

but ..the one with the light is different with ours..........when the light comes on there is still 10 liters in the tank...............

We bought a new Sedici last week, the display is in KM. but we want it in MPG.
THe local dealership ar waiting for FIAT to contact them to advise how to do it. In the handbook you can press the small button longer than 2 seconds. But it does no work. ANy ideas thanks

We just had ours back in the 3 recalls, car only 2 weeks old. 2 x handbrake recalls and a CAT recall.
