My name is Keith and I am about to collect my first car - 1997 Fiat Punto 1.2 16V ELX (well on the 23rd).

The car has central locking, but via key. I have basically been looking for a alarm for it, but during my searches on eBay I came accross this:

I was wondering are these worth the money and can they be trusted?

your car should have remote locking, id get that fixed.

I don't think it does but this is the car I am getting:

if it doesn't have it when I get it, would this be suitable

well if it doesnt have it, moan that it doesnt work and get money off, as the elx should have remote locking.

it was pretty cheap though!

Doesn't have remote locking..central locking yes remote no

I contacted the seller and he confirmed it doesn't but would this kit be good enough or should I look more?

i have seen kits and all you do is replace the central locking relay with another which has a remote, having said that dono anybody thats fitted one but they did say that as long as your car has central locking you can have remote locking

I see, ok cool will look into that, but I am looking to get an alarm for it too you see, so would i need to get a system like the one i posted earlier?

iv got punto brochure here it says-

remote central locking

6 speaker stereo system
pollen filter.

I seen that before somewhere I cant remember, but yes I think I saw that. However with this one it hasnt got it unfortunately. I am happy with what I am paying for it though.

I had budgeted about £40 for an alarm where this item falls into my budget. Would this kind of kit be ok, or is there another better option?

your see if there are any buttons on the keys when you pick it up, if theres only 1 blue key, then the other blue remote key might of gotten lost, and he doesnt know its meant to have it.

they come with 1 blue without button, 1 blue with button, and 1 red without button.

Yes sorry I do see what you are saying. I guess I will have to wait until I collect it. I just can't see why he hasn't mentioned it. When speaking to him about it, he said it didnt have it on, unless you get a car alarm for it, which I accepted.

Sorry just read the latter part of the message and just read the ebay description again, seems he must have lost the other one then because it says he has 1 red and blue key for it.

yeah thats whats happened i think, the remote keys just got lost and he never knew it had it

Ok, so what can I do when I collect it?

well id just leave it if the car seems decent cos you got it quite cheap! if the car isnt as described to 100% then id moan cos he didnt say the remote locking is not working

I ain't lookin to moan I can just be a lazy Git and would love to get it workin.

I am very happy to get this car I was happy with the price but wasn't sure, thanks for your opinion

not sure! your have to go to a fiat dealer and ask or see if anyone on here knows lol
