Re: Car security failure

The immobiliser 'control' is within the Body computer or Engine ECU I believe.

The body computer is the grey box attached to the back of the dashboard fuse box.

The immobiliser is not a sepatate part of the BC but is built in with the rest of its circuitry.

Re: Car security failure

As with all the Fiat models, and all others since 2000, both ECUs need to talk to each other. That is, the ignition ECU and the body computer. They both need to recognise the key chip. If either ECU do not like the key, the engine will not start.

If only one ECU is replaced, the car needs to be connected to Fiat's Examiner, or it may be possible for MultiECUScan to do it. But you will also need the car's security code. In the UK, this is not supplied with the car, but available to order from dealers once ownership is proven. You may have a card with the car. With this, the two ECU's can be told to accept each other, and the key.

The alternative method, is to source both computers, keys, and locks, including the ignition lock, as a set. Then as far as the computer is concerned, it is the donor car.

Hopefully that makes sense.

You may need to go back to the source of the ECU, and get the rest.
