Hi all, just returned to the world of fiats.

I was wondering, as I have a old key from my previous grande punto, could it be programmed into my gf 2008 grande punto my a auto locksmith?

I know most only offer a standard key, but is this just based on sourcing keys or the programming.

Gf GP only has the 1 key

Yes it can be but remotes for the Grande are a specialist job. Non remote keys can be copied from an original. But for a remote unless your using a dealer supplied key the body computer needs to be removed and read directly. To obtain the information to prepare the key for programming. Any one that does this type of programming should have the keys available if you wanted to re use your old one it would need the key blade changing obviously and the immobiliser transponder removing from the circuit board in the key and replacing with a new one.

The other question I had on this topic, was if I managed to get a lock set with the BSI, could I just swap these bits and it all work. Would a 500 BSI also work?

Yes you could use a lockset complete with bsi and ecu from another Grande. Not tried using a 500 bsi in a Grande But there are slight differences in the way they are coded. It will probably work fine if the donor had the same features as your car. Bu I haven't tried it so couldn't say for definite
