If I get one or two keys cut for my cinq as spares as I only have the one blue key(never had red key) could I take off the steering coloumn casing and cabletie the real key (with the diode/immobiliser in) as close as possible to the code reader and then use the cut normal key/s daily instead??

Would probably invalidate your insurance ;)

You plan on cable tying the actual key to the lock barrel?

So when johnny joyrider breaks into your car and rips off the column casing, expecting to need to bash the ignition barrel off to pinch your wheels, instead he finds a key handily tied to the barrel?

Perhaps not the best idea for vehicle security (and if the car is recovered it will be obvious a key was used, so as M.E.P. said, the insurance won't pay out!)

Sorry taking so long to reply, I was logged on via my mobile when I posted the OP and 'SHOULD' of mentioned that I had the idea of cable tying the key in the event of it snapping so it would just be the fob part of key and therefore enabling me to use a standard cut key instead.
