Hi All,

Simply, im considering whether getting an alarm installed is worth the investment?

Also, would an alarm be the best method to prevent theft of audio equipment?

Im just thinking about selling the car (although this will be a few years) will anyone want to buy a car with a non- standard alarm?

Just being straight to the point here, I have looked around a lot but really want to get some opinions on the matter.

Iv read through a lot of the threads but none answer my question exactly.

I appreciate any replies

A top of the range Thatcham alarm / imobiliser certainly wouldnt hinder a sale, it may even drop your insurance quotations.

Thing is it would be expensive, especially professionally fitted.

A cheap alarm fitted by you or a mate would probably not give the same benefits.

If you have audio kit installed, the best deterrant is a removable front panel... as long as you remember to remove it every time you leave the car of course...

Do you know how much I would expect to pay?

Iv had a look at some of the thatcham approved alarms in the hundreds, but to fit i have no idea.

Not sure what to invest in right now

This place ios as a guide only as it's up in Scotland... £300-£400 supplied & fitted maybe, depends on make model etc.

Have a Looky here www.mobilecaralarms.com i fit in and around Yorkshire
an after market alarm is always better as they are not fit in the same location as a factory fit one
and they can offer you more options over factory fit so the answer is yes protect your investment
without an alarm your ICE disappears with no sound with an alarm you get early warning something is happening at that time

Wicked thanks for that will be getting one this year iv decided

Don't expect your insurance to drop much for having a Thatcham approved alarm. My insurance quote was only £5 cheaper if I had a thatcham approved system fitted.
