Hi everyone

This is my first post on the forum :)

I have bought a Fiat Seicento Sporting Broom Yellow that is the best car i've bought so far.

So, bought it on thursday at 18:00hrs,

Got broken into on the Saturday

I've heard that Seis are easy to break into but hard to take away so i thought that this is not happening again...

I called around to see if anyone could help with an alarm... cool.. found a mobile company in Bristol who fitted me an alarm that has everything on it (Sonics, Boot, Bonet, Doors, Windows, Tilt sensors, etc, etc,) fitted with 12 month warrenty for £178. Good eh

Now i needed to get the doors de-locked...

Phoned my local car body repair shops...

The fisrt one quoted me £220 (not bad). I said ok ill ring you when im on my way down with the car..

Few hours later i rang him back...

"Hello, im on my way with the Fiat..."

"Oh, well, i'm very busy now and i have a huge work order from one of my regulars. "i wont be able to do it for a while now... i'll ring you back when i can fit it in" he said.

So with that i thought "£*%@" so i rang another local body shop and told him the story...

He said.." Oh, i'll do that in a few days and i'll charge you £200! (saved £20 quid) lol

I'll let you know the full result (with piccys) when i get the car back finnished.

TOP TIP:

Step one... Get a price off the 1st garage/company you see/ like the look of, then ring others local in the area,

Step two... Say you are going on holiday and you must have the car done by X date, that way, they will get the car done sooner, you get the car back quicker, aaaand you save money! :D ;)

Regards,

SpongeBobSquareCar

EDIT: Little bro here (Xenon from the Live For Speed forum on Racesimcentral!) just uploading your piccy :) :D

Got my Cinq, delocked and dehandled, and works pretty well, at the moment i have it linked to one of those remotes you can use to turn ur neons on, so i can open the doors remotely, but in the weekend im getting it integrated into my alarm wit buttons, TVR style. The buttons are useless with the alarm armed, and wen the alarm is disarmed the buttons will have a postive charge to activate a reley to pop open the doors.

I will get pic as soon as, misplaced me camera at the moment, dam little sisters :(

Edit* Also Welcome to the forum m8

What would you people do in the event of a crash if a solenoid is used? I.e. if power is lost would you be stuck in?

eyeroll?! :O I better shut up!

Hello and welcome Bob, I am Paul, FF hottie and obviously somebody who never stops thinking. ;)

You can open the door from the inside, with or without power. You just pull the handle as normal. If you do have a crash (touch wood) and the battery is disconnected hence no power to the solinoids AND you happen to be unconcious (if that spelt right lol) then there would be no way to get in unless to rip or cut the door off, which if i was in a serious accident wouldnt be to bothered about.

So the solenoid doesn't replace the lock? I thought it did, that's all :) I once made a keyless entry system using a solenoid lock I made myself and I had to make a decision between either battery back up or a second manual method.

Is there anything to stop anybody from smashing the window and opening the door from the inside or do you remove the lock pin or something? (Just interested...)

The lock pin will be removed anyway as there is no need for it, as with the central locking, they cant get in from the outside so it doesnt matter.

The only problem with the cinq central locking is it doesnt matter if the central locking is on or off from the inside, because as soon as you open the door from the inside handle it overides the central locking and pops all the doors open.

So yes they could smash the window and open the door with or without the dehandled doors. I howeva have blacked out windows all round in my cinq aswell, which also creates a film over the window so if there were smashed to get in, it wouldnt smash just shatter and therefore requiring more work to get in.
Hence it would take much longer than a smash and grab.

Anyways... i've heard that there is a remote fuel cut out button under the dash somewhere, is this true?

I cant find it!

Acctually, this made me laff a bit... :D

It says this on the reverce side of your sun visor on the drivers side ....

QUOTE"
When involved in an accident, please turn off the fuel via the remote cut off switch, PLEASE CONSOLT THE OWNERS MANUAL!

YEAH RIGHT.... 30mph into a wall/another car... OH, i'll just get my owners manual a sec!! LOL!!!

dude u should ask the company who tinted your windows about security film for them.

it is this film that sticks to the inside of the windows an when they are smashed the film holds the window in place so that it cant b broken into.

however fire man HATE it as it makes it very very difficult to get into the car, if u are in a huge smash could cause problems, but does make it nearly impossible to break into the car!!! :D

Not got another way in? Im thinking of a way to do it using a battery and a keyswitch.

Sorry to Hijack, but what do the Solenoids operate? The locks or do they push the door out?

dont scallys just bend your door back from the top? happened to my mates car he spent loads of money on delocking it and the ****s just bent the door back and let themselves in :(

lol yep thats wat happened wit my car, but then i had a stereo that was not a removable facia and just fliped round, they nicked that and my subs and decided to add insult by stabbing my seats.

Didnt have an alarm or anything then so didnt know it happened now got all that wit a removable facia stereo, so pointless stealing that and if they do decide to get in, the cars got 2 immoblisers (fiat and alarm) and the subs are bolted to the floor of the boot, so unless they got about 30 - 40 mins to spare they cant get it out in a hurry.

apprently cinqs, and fiesta's are prone to getting there doors bent open. Hmmm great.

hey spongebob i c u live in bristol? iv been thinking about an alarm and delocking the doors, where did u go to get them done? i dont live too far from bristol so its better to go to somewhere thats already done a good job to someone elses car :D by the way is your alarm thatcham cat 1?
