I've just bought a new Panda which, of course, came as standard with the FiatCode immobiliser. It doesn't come with an alarm.

There is an official Fiat alarm which costs about £150 and integrates seamlessly with the central locking/immobiliser etc. There also seems to be a seemingly endless choice of aftermarket ones also.

I don't see any point adding another immobiliser (the Fiat one is perfectly up to the job) and I already have keyless entry as standard.

So fellow Fiat fans, which should I buy? The official Fiat one or some other brand name? If not the Fiat then anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks. :)

I think it depends what you're after, but for top notch security I think a Clifford alarm takes some beating. Unfortunately you'll need to carry a separate blipper around and it'll cost more than £150 (eg http://www.caralarmuk.com/acatalog/Clifford_G5_Car_Alarms.html). If you're a gadget freak you'll find it hard to resist though! :ROFLMAO:

I think the Panda is a pretty low-risk vehicle so the Fiat item should be fine. I'd avoid cheap aftermarket alarms as I had one fitted to one of my cars and it was a disaster and kept going off - turned out afterwards that it wasn't even Thatcham approved!

Thanks for your reply Chris.

I thing the Cobra one is a bit overkill for the MJ. Especially as a lot of the little extra features (like closing the windows and sunroof) are unlikely to work.

Seriously thinking of the Fiat one (as I have a 15% discount voucher) but wondered if there are any other ones which will integrate with the RCL fob and offered better security. I don't believe the Fiat one is Thatcham approved.

Thatcham doesn't reduce insurance that much, maybe £10 a year, and for an extra £200 for an alarm unit, its going to be 20 years before you see the advantage!

yknivag, did you go for it in the end? My local dealer told me that it takes their mechanics over 3 hours to fit, it's not a simple plug in job.

Assenbled by me :slayer:(alarm+CI),and manual central locking ,i have not used ...........i used a central locking universal.
