I messed up... lost its standard, in-situ, non electronic ign. key that started engine perfect; ; so i removed old lock and key assy. from steering column and fitted replacement;; only to discover in-situ. system lock and key had been previously modified to work without electronic code transmitting key,;;having fitted replacement lock and key assy., engine will now no longer start,... now suspect modification to have been column fitted close transmit/receive electronic chips....which has now become lost;;;; does anyone know how i can by-pass the electronic ignition system to start the engine (02 plate, diesel 1.9);;; or failing that, can i buy a suitable priced electronic column lock and key assy.
New to use forum.......any suggestions much appreciated.
thanks

Hi :)

The FIAT system uses a small ring 'aeriel'..

Greeny grey cast plastic.. that clips around the ignition locks barrel

That is what senses the chip within the key :)

However you have a scudo.. probably with a 'french' engine.. built by SEVEL

So how that system works.. I dont know

WITH FIAT:

Auto locksmiths can normally read the code via the OBD port

SO: get a new basic key cut to your new locks profile.. and coded to the vehicle

Should be less than £50

Do let us know how it goes

Last time I had a quote for getting a spare key cut and coded was £120 from mobile locksmith. 2 years ago
That was reading imobiliser code via obd port

Good people, thank you very much for your suggestions.
unfortunately my sad predicament has moved past the actual KEY function stage..
as i understand it, the stop / start of a diesel engine, is effected by the stop or flow, of the diesel fuel, directed to the vehicles diesel injector pump??

i was hoping for a suggestion way, whereby this same systems action to the pump, could be replicated/bypassed by a direct electrical connection of sorts, to the pump, or otherwise, to enable its fuel flow??...

any further suggestions would be very welcome.....((not suicide please ))

ken.

This is not really doable with modern engines, there is the electric fuel pump in the fuel tank there is a mechanical fuel pump under the bonnet and there are other electronics and solinoids that will either block inlet air to stop engine overrun and also the electronics control the timing of the diesel fuel injectors, you won’t be able to put 12v to the fuel pump and then turn the engine over.

The electronics controls these engines, if you don’t have a key or you don’t have a working key then there is not a lot else you can do.

Also if there were and people started posting on here about starting vans without keys we’re basically telling people how to go out and steal vans
