Further to the "Fuel filter top cracked (Scudo 2004/2.0/JTD)" thread.

My filter has the knurled threaded ring at the top, and a 3-pin electrical connection at the side of the filter, as well as another electrical connection on the cap.

Is the cap from a filter that does NOT have the 3-pin side connector compatible with the cap on one that does?

Hi again
Hope things are ok with you :)

In your original thread I know you patched up the leak

https://www.fiatforum.com/scudo/479911-fuel-filter-top-cracked-scudo-2004-2-0-jtd.html

Why dont you compare part numbers..?

Many of the FIAT diesels have 2..or 3 filter brands.. Purflux..UFI

if you figure out which you have finding a replacement will be so much easier ;)

Hi Zog

Have you made any progress?

Apologies for the huge long delay. I can now afford to buy a used filter housing, which is good, since the leak's back.

I took a photo of the existing one, the part number is visible (9642105180 & 9638780280). I think that the last number is the element, the first the housing, but ICBW The big question is "Will the top from a new one without the 3-pin plug fit on my one which has a 3-pin plug?) :

The housing on the replacement fuel filter housing I'm considering has exactly the same numbers on as mine, but it hasn't got the 3-pin plug.

The one I have uses a filter like this: https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/mann-filter-fuel-filter-503735129

I've no idea whether or not the one I'm looking at takes the same filter, but the top looks the same, the ring looks the same, and the numbers match. Just no plug! So I was going to do the obvious & just swap the top.

Well, I've got a used filter housing coming, so I will soon see!

The filter with the obvious "knurled" ring at the top. The used filter housing came.

The part numbers on the old bowl with the 3pin plug matched the "new" bowl with no 3-pin plug.

The lids are exactly the same. So if you have a model with the 3-pin plug the lid is interchangeable with the non-3-pin-plug version.

EDIT: What is the proper tightening procedure? I tightened mine by hand, and have it a small extra tweak. I don't think it's a good thing to over-tighten these things. Any ideas?
