Right third time's the charm, I'm not good at this apparently...
Hi from a new member in Finland, I have a 2009 Scudo II 1.6jtd with 320tkm on the clock and some weird issues.
First one is what I think to be a valve knock but I'm not entirely sure. The sound intensity and pitch is related to the engine revs BUT:
-It's sort of more a squeaky rattle than a clearly audible valve tap
-it only does it when I accelerate so when coasting or idling it's not there
-it only does it when the engine is at full working temperature
-when the revs reach more or less 2600rpm the sound stops!
I've recently had the cambelt and the serpentine belt as well as the infamous bottom pulley swapped (yes I've been trying to study this with thin results...) I also had the jet o-rings swapped and the jet wells gouged so those shouldn't leak either. Both me and my mechanic are at a loss at what else this could be. It's getting louder so whatever it is it's priming to blow and I'd like to catch it before parts start flying.
I also have other issues as well, the main ones probly both fuel related. First is when I bought the car it fired up right away and idled smoothly, now it starts with a shudder and has what I call a galloping idle like one cyl wouldn't be putting in a full effort. There's also a horrid stench coming in from the engine bay, it's so bad I gotta have the cabin circulation valve shut at all times or I get nausea and headache pretty quick, but the odd part is I cannot put my finger on what exactly am I smelling. It more resembles terpentime than diesel though it might be some evaporating part of it, deffy no exhaust. The mech that did the cambelt did leave the engine mount bolt loose which threaded out and punctured an AC line, could I be smelling some sort of a lubricant that has sprayed out of the system and is now stinking off the hot engine? I checked the fresh air filter for contaminamts and it appears dry.
Thanks in andvance!
