Hi. Before I bought a 1.6hdi scudo I wasn't expecting the power of my old 2.0jtd but Im shocked at how slow it is. Im thinking there must be a problem. Got a long hill that I go up everyday and it won't rev above 3500 In 3rd or 4th and actually ends up losing speed by the time I'm at the top doing about 40mph.

I saw a turbo hose that needed a repair plus one injector was sooting up as it wasn't sealing properly so sorted both of these but no real improvement.

Any suggestions as to what could be tested, cleaned or changed.

If they truly are this slow I will probably have to get rid or as a last resort try chipping it for a little more power.... anyone done that. Thanks for any info offered.

I would get codes read see if any come up, when was it last serviced.

Ok... I've got a basic fault code reader so will give it a try. I've only just bought the van but it had a basic service when it was sold. Thanks for the reply

So got 3 codes... P1461, P1351, P1351 P.

My quick search showed up something about the glow plugs... No issues starting at the moment.

Anything there point to something turbo related?

Just seen reconditioned turbos for £100. I'd gladly buy one if that's the problem, but keep reading about waste gates and the egr valve etc. I'm happy removing parts, cleaning etc but I don't know where these other parts are on this van.

Is there an electrical connection or something that can be disconnected on the turbo to make sure it doesn't work? At least then I would know if there's any significant drop in power.

I used to get a flat spot on my old 2.0jtd that once cleared it was obvious the turbo had kicked in.... Driving this 1.6 feels like a constant flat spot, I don't feel that there's any turbo assistance, but it will go along at 70 on the motorway once it's got there.

Just to quickly add another sympton....bad mpg, 25mpg at best over the last week. Is that typical of an EGR valve, despite not having a fault code to suggest it?

Thankyou....yes took the electrical connection off of the MAF and it instantly had more power.....

I used a can of EGR valve cleaner through the system but dont think that did too much but im guessing not a waste of time anyway...So assuming the obvious answer is another MAF sensor.

Seeing if i can source one that will fit through Ebay as it seems you need to buy the surrounding that it fits in also as one part, is that correct? Mines a 1.6 hdi 07

Not sure about that some one else might know u could try cleaning it first see if that's any better.
