Hi everyone I need your help please. I have a 2001 1.9EL Scudo (non turbo model). I tried starting it a few days ago and the glow plug light flicked on and off, it normally stays lit for about 3 or 4 seconds. I then had to crank the engine for what seemed an eternity until it fired up. I have connected a cable from the glow plug nearest the off side of the van. Before turning the ignition key I hold the bare end of the cable to the + battery pole for about 5 seconds. I then turn the ignition key and the van starts. Can I assume the relay is faulty given I am by passing it? Any help on the matter would be great ☺

OK. The last query didn't generate a response :-( Can anybody give me an idea where the faulty relay is situated please?

Cheers r masters. Went into my local Fiat dealer was quoted £120 for a Bosch relay and £250 for a Lucas replacement. For a van purchased for £1000 - I don't think so! As luck would have it my buddy checked it out and it turns out the relay supply from the battery to the alternator had broken. So it looks like the relay will be OK. Sweet ...☺
