Hi all, could do with some views on this one please.
The boy lost his clutch due to the cable adjuster failing (he kept a little pressure on the pedal to ensure it always worked) which melted the thrust bearing retainer.
So I put a new clutch in it (what fun!) by moving the gearbox over to the left.
Got it back together with new clutch cable and new gear cables (so you can imagine the cost already!).
Worked fine for a couple of months then suddenly the clutch wouldn't work and the van was stuck in gear. The gears all work correctly and with the starter out and the clutch pedal fully down, you can move the plate so it's not stuck. Now to my mind that only leaves the spigot bearing that could have seized, would you say?
I've had one on my old Range Rover start to seize, but with the clutch down, it used to shriek like heck! This made no noise at all: He parked outside his mates, came out an hour later to come home and no clutch! Started in gear and changed gear perfectly without clutch (I'm old school used to clutchless changes and crash boxes)
Any thoughts from the collective please, and thanks for reading?
