Hi all. I'm a new member to the forum and have had one post answered already (many thanks). Latest prob (and I only bought the van on Monday) is. A blank trip / total mileage display. Any suggestions?

Just the bulbs fused, happens all the time. Fix as follows.

3 screws round the centre air vent 2 screws inside top of cowling round clocks, remove cowling then 2 scews above clocks and if the clocks have never been removed before, there is a big black plastic headed screw hidden underneath that you need to remove with a long screwdriver from under the console (throw it away) remove, 2 bulbs for mileometer then you be just aswell changeing the illumination bulbs to save you haveing to do it all again, illumination bulbs are all marked L1-L10. Takes about 20 minutes

Thanks buddy. Took 3 of the locks out today. Your procedure you gave me to remove the handles worked a treat. I hsve the locks steeping in diesel, I'll rinse them through tomorrow with WD40 and put them back in fingers crossed they work. The driver and passenger door locks will be next as the door cards and window winders look a bit more tricky. I'll sort the bulbs while I'm at it. Regarding the smoke and erratic tick over when starting from cold. The engine is the old 1.9EL and looks a doddle to work on. Do you think the blue/grey somoke will lessen if I get the fuel injectors refurbed (if this is possible)?

Sorry just noticed you state erratic idle, injectors might be an issue but expensive and unlikly if the milage is correct. Worth changing EGR valve I would think.

Hey bigdong. Was following yourexcellent procedure for removing the cowling around the clocks. All screws / air vent out. The cowking won't release at the right hand side (drivers door). I don't want to break anything. Would this be the large black plastic headed screw stopping me from removing the cowling? Cheers buddy.

Got the speedo console out in the end. Think I know why the mileage bulb had fused ... I bought the van with 95k allegedly. Replaced the bulb and the mileage is now working .... It has 121k , lol .... Hey ho cie la vie.
