Hi

I have a 2010 scudo without a factory bulkhead, I have purchased a ply bulkhead and removed the ladder behind the drivers seat.

I want to cut the low level panel behind the seats, this runs the width of the van and by cutting it will allow me to store a 3m length inside the van as it will slide under the bench seats.

Is this panel there on non bulkhead vans to prevent stuff from the load area rolling into the cab or does it serve a more important purpose?

Thanks

The peice you talk of is in most vans, however I dont think it is in the eurobus, ie the ones with 8 forward faceing seats. Best advice would be find a garage near enough to yourself that is selling a peugeot/citroen/fiat, with 8 forward faceing seats and go have a look. If it's not there then it should be safe enough. Just make sure there is no additional support put in to replace it.

Thanks, I'm unsure now as it seems to be welded along the bottom, I don't want to remove this panel but cut a slot into it

hmmm, this is getting quite involved, maybe I'm better off trying to modify or remove the overhead storage and use that, just trying not to have to have a roof rack and a rhino tube, getting about 560 miles to a tank and pretty sure the roof rack and rhino tube will reduce that considerably

It might be part of the type approval, you'll need to check this before chopping as might need to get the vehicle class re-registered, affecting tax, insurance, and speed limits the vehicle is governed by.
Hi mate.
Just joined with the intention of getting some advice on various topics with my new scudo. This is basically my hot topic currently! You mention checking whether removing this piece of bodywork below the seats is part of the type classification. Any idea how I could do this?

Thanks =]

VOSA / DVLA are who I'd be enquiring with (y)

If the van has a sliding side door on both sides, this panel will be key to the van's strength. Very likely to be critical as manufacturer would not waste money on anything not necessary.

If you just need a hole in it, it would need to be swaged, i.e. have a lip around the hole to add strength. Find your nearest van/truck body builder and ask them, they will have a good idea what can be done without compromising its strength.

Thanks for the insight fellas. Thinking over lunch I'm pretty certain I don't need to actually remove this anymore anyway. I have this idea about turning the van into something that can function as both a work and camper van and what I'll probably do is install a leisure battery in a box between the front seats.

Talking of which, and I know this is off-topic but does anyone know where I might be able to part-ex my current bench passenger seats for a single?

I've attached a pic for all of you to gawp at. I'm so chuffed with it! :D

Hi all, I'm new on here so please forgive if I am posting in the wrong place.

I have a Doblo Cargo 1.6 Maxi Base Van 2013 and I would like to remove the black steel bulkhead behind the seats. It looks to be easy to remove as it is only bolted in place. The van has two side sliding doors, is the bulkhead to give greater stability? Thanks for any thoughts.
