Hi

I've been looking through various posts with all of the power loss issues and although I have a similar fault I would be grateful of any input.

I bought my 2001 2.0 JTD Combinato in February and initially it seemed really nice with plenty of power, although it did seem to smoke a bit under load. It also developed very quickly a loss of power (almost like limp home mode) when cruising at 70-80ish which seemed like no turbo and could only be cured by turning the ignition off and back on. This would cure the 'fault' for a while (although sometimes it reoccured almost instantly). There was also a loud whistling noise from behind the bulkhead. There was no engine management light on either.

After living with this for a while I investigated and found that the intercooled was damaged and leaked and the hose between MAF sensor and turbo was disconnected! Tried an epoxy repair (doh!) and connected the MAF to turbo pipe back and took it for a drive and after a few miles got a big black cloud of smoke and the management light came on and stayed on. After that it was back to a bit of black smoke under acceleration.

So I bought a new intercooler and fitted it and now have no black smoke and no power (light still on). So I took it to FIAT dealer who found 6 errors recorded, reset the computer. I now have no smoke, no light but no power.

The power thing is odd though as mostly it feels like no turbo and then sometimes (normally 2nd gear) it all feels back to normal until you change gear again and no power.

By the way the errors read were - Boost pressure sensor, overboost valve, EGR, MAF sensor, accelerator sensor and glowplug relay(?!?). So I'm sure these are not all relevant to the problem.

If anyone has got any ideas I'd appreciate it as although I really like the Scudo I'm starting to get a bit peeved with the power issue.

Cheers,
Martin.

This might help to narrow it down a bit.
Boost pressure sensor (probably a symptom), overboost valve(common fault, may need replaced), EGR (egr valve, common fault, may need replaced), MAF sensor(common fault, may need replaced), accelerator sensor(this code showes up on most of them and is usually ignored) and glowplug relay(possable fault but not the cause of your problem).

I have been having the same issue linked with a intermittent fault with the tem guage. I had a play and whilst the engine was running i uncliped the teperature sensor off the engine. The car went into panic mode, lights all over the dash so I pluged it back in. The result being the temp guage now works perfect and the loss of power solved . It was like driving a new car. The power problem has come back so I carried out the same proceedure. Result power back. I have ordered a new temp sensor off ebay which hopefully will solve the problem perminantly. I hope.

Well after a year of trouble free motering the old problem is back. I changed the temperature sensor and the car ran perfect until a few weeks ago. Thinking the sensor was defect I put a new one in but the problem persisits. I have found on another forum that the issue may be the auxillary inlet manifold butterfly diaphram. as this is a cheap fix I thought I would try it but I can't find the part anywhere. Can anyone help with a part number or maybe the correct name of this part? I love driving the Scudo but at the minute its a real tortoise.

So the saga continues. After spending the morning at my local dealership in France and I was told that the MAF sensor was the problem 240 euros to fix. So I got myself one off ebay for 40 pounds and fitted it myself. Is it fixed? not on your nelly so it's back to the EGR. I took it off today to find that there is a lot of oil in the pipe leading to it and inside the valve. My guess is that is not normal. Any suggestions?:bang:

Has anyone solved this problem this is wat my 2002 scudo combi is doing thought it might b the fuel pressure sensor on pump as these are known to go any help or ideas would b a great help ??

Digressing slightly, but along your thought line-first thing I always do is to completely dissconnect the Battery terminal for 2 minutes and then reconnect....this "just might" tidy up any scrambled data as the ECU resets itself. (make sure you have your radio code first)

(make sure you have your radio code first)

Don't. Just don't, eh? It's not funny and it's not clever. Radio codes, don't even speak to me about radio codes. I was sure I'd got mine with the handbook and stuff. Knickers. Poxy radio codes. Grr!

Hello I am at my wits end.
I have a fiat scudo 2001 2.0 jtd.
Always changed oil ect
Long trips always ran perfectly.
Now the turbo does not kick it.
It drives perfectly 3000 revs 120kmh.
I put in a new MAF problem not fixed.
I noticed if I push the acceleration peddle very very slowly. There is a slight hiccup at one point.
Any ideas please help.
