hi i have a 2003 fiat scudo 2.0jtd van that i have just picked up, it starts and runs and drive but makes a chuffing noise on inspection it appears that there is a leak on one of the injectors the one on the drivers side, around this area it is very sooty and dirty. will i need to replace the injector or will it just need removing and a new sealing washer/oring fitting??? in addition when i turn the ignition key i get the stop light flashing and the engine light comes on but it starts just fine, and will happily sit and idle apart from the chuffing noise, ive not had it up to temperature yet so as far as i know it doesnt cut out. any advise as to how to solve this injector leaking and if the stop engine light is related to this injector issue?

take injector out and replace seal mine was plastic o ring does your lights on the dash go out when engine started

hi thanks for the reply, will i need to clean the seat out to get a good seal?

Yep once started the lights dissappear and to be honest it drives pretty well.

remove all the crap around injector before u take it out i give mine a good squirt of wd40 as they r pretty tight then pull out

Thats great, think i'll take the hoover into the garage with me and give it a good clean off with some carb cleaner.

Im guessing that its going to be in there pretty damn tight there is quite a lot of soot/carbon around the injector how likely is it that i'll trash rhe injector trying to get it out? got a good diesal specialist local to me so if i cant seem to get it out i'll drop it round to him.

Thanks

when u disconnect pipe and other connections loosen bolt that holds injector in i clamped a pair of mole grips on and wiggled it side to side pulling up takes a while but will come out sprayer wd 40 on first

It is in there solid, no amount of pushing or wiggling is having much effect, soaked it in wd40 and cleaned up all around it, but getting nowhere fast with it, doing the walk away and try again tomorrow approach at the minute.

It's a pig of a place to get to which doesn't help, did you get yours out in one sitting or did you have to wiggle and soak then leave it a couple of times?

took me a while as well dont no if there is some sort of pulling tool u can use anyone help out

Got sorted, managed to get a big adjustable on the injector to twist it and a piece of wood under the fuel inlet to lever it and out it came, get everything cleaned off then I'll take the injector to the diesel specialist to sort me out with the bits that I need.

Was stressing that I wasn't gonna come out but persistence and patience are key I guess!
