Technical removal of fuel tank, fuel gauge showing empty

hi
i have a 2001 non turbo scudo, and the fuel gauge is showing empty and warning light is on,i have a full tank of fuel ?? any ideas??, my van is boarded out at back so some one suggested to drop tank and check fuel sensor, is this a difficult job??

easiest way is to cut 8"" square hole just above sender unit just done mine saves u a lot of time
