Front nearside wheel bearing on a 2006 Scudo...is it a DIY job to replace?

(Occasional Rumble from nearside front, dissapears when steered to left)

Bit miffed no replies of help for this thicko moi, but thought I might share latest with you's all. After garage test drive it was with some certainty put down to an anti roll bar bush, (not the wheel bearing as I thought)
Examination of anti roll bar on ramps did not show anything amiss
But spotted the plastic guard missing under and between NS front bumper and wheel arch

The remaining platic guard it attached to, that goes around inside the NS wheel arch was loose.

Was going to take this out to eliminate but pushed for time, its a longer lump of plastic than first thought that goes all around and to back end of the arch.

Hard to believe this lump of plastic could be producing noises I'v been hearing, will keep you posted if it cures when I get a chance to removed it.

It's a disappointment when that happens, isn't it - but thank you very much for posting what happened/happens. I wish everyone who fixes a problem would do this!

Thank you for these kind words...it is realised that many of the guys on here only have a finite amount of time and cannot involve in everything...so there is no problem with that.:)

Following on, its almost certainly the plastic protector in the wheel arch causing the rumble/clonking . To replace the missing plastic cover below (between bumper and NS wheel arch) that it should attach I am told by main dealer involves the purchase of complete engine shield...£320...they do not sell the parts separately! The wheel Arch protector would come in complete too to replace the flap damaged through blowing against the tyre! I did not even ask how much this was... :bang:

Any ideas of a "Blue Peter" repair with old plastic bottles? :D

www.1stchoice.co.uk ? Only give them a description and an e-mail address.

Fibreglass?

Plastic welding?

Took a look at 1st Choice..a little overwhelming but worth coming back to after I have had a really good look underneath. That will be when my eldest boy brings back my ramps he only wanted for "that afternoon"

Think I have cracked 1st Choice...found for my Taxi "WHEEL ARCH LINER (FRONT PSNGR SIDE)" BINGO! Now I have to find if my missing piece between the wheel arch and front bumper forms part of this assembly...cannot see anything else that it may be in the listings....now I have found it I am wonering does it mean they have one?

"They" are a middleman - they take your request for spares, and e-mail it out to a list of scrappies who give them a cut. I have found prices to be pretty reasonable, though.

There are a few similar concerns "out there", but 1stC are the only ones I've tried so far. Some ISTR want a subscription. Nah.
