Hi all,
have a 2002 2.0JTD and have had some serious issues lately. had turbo lag and found wastegate siezed and also injection pump on the way out.
had to replace pump and thought it would resolve problem. put some stop smoke into the tank cause it failed an emmisions test. after it worked its way through the van semed to enter "limp mode" where it wouldn't rev over 4000 rpm. got lots of faults on the diag. so replaces airflow meter, egr and turbo. thought this would do the trick :mad:

not a hope. waste gate issue resolved turbo whistles like mad on take off but will only go to about 4000 rpm. cannot get it to go any higher. all faults were cleared but wastegate still shows. so mechanic tried a "de-catted" 1st section of exhaust but still no joy

Can anyone give advice as im at the point where a shower in 95 octane and a quick dry with a zippo seens the only result :cry::cry::cry:

also i forgot to mention when driving every couple of miles it seems to backfire with a judder a hell of a lot of white smoke and conk out. the only way to restart is to take it out of gear switch off and restart. this has happened on the motorway and other places. there is no indicator of when it will happen.

This sounds like a fault in the high pressure pump, I know as you said you have replaced it but could it be faulty? Could be the injecters or fault in the ecu. Has the new pump been programmed properly to the vehicle? What computer are you using for diagnostics? It could be worth putting it into fiat and getting them to reprogram the running. If you are doing the diagnostis on your own computer, try telling it the vehicle is a "peugeot expert" this tends to give a more accurate read out of the faults.

thanks BIGDONG for the reply, using a brainbee diagnostic and the pump doesnt need to be recoded. any further help ????:bang::bang::bang::bang:

since last post a new throttle position sensoe was put in and all faults cleared but again still no rev over 4000 and showing waste gate fault again even though its working perfectly.
my mechanic is at his wits end and cant figure it out.
:bang::bang::bang:
any help please

I am just following a logical line of thought, I don't know exactly what the problem is but:
If you are convinced that the waste gate is working OK but the ecu fault codes say it isn't, then the problem could be in the sensors/wiring/relays/connectors between the waste gate and the ecu.
Perhaps you need an electrican rather than a mechanic.

found the fault code 0243 wastegate A Solinode malfunction.
had a lad check the 3 visible ones at front of engine bay and he said tey seem to be working, i rang fiat for a price and they told me there are 4.

does anyone know where the forth one is located in the engine.
:confused:
