help, i have a 03 plate scudo 2.0 jtd van. the engine can cut out at anytime and may or may not start..it has had new, injector pump, injectors, crank sensor, airflow meter, cat and exhaust. the problem use to be only once a week or so now its so frequent i dare not take it anywhere, or even sell it. has been into the garage and apparently has had all wiring checked.....engine check light does not come on when driving, only when it stops and ignition is turned on or off. if it does not start, sometimes it will start when i unplug throttle position sensor, but then engine check light stays on. looked at other replies regarding fuel pump relay, my local fiat dealership did not know where it is and wanted to charge me by the hour to look up the part number before ordering...muppets. can anyone please tell me its location and cost. i like these vans as they are quick, but this problem is getting on my tits and is starting to cost silly money......

I believe the ECU is supplied via a relay and this can cause problems.

I think it is located beside the glow-plug heater relay.

Hi, just been told the same thing from a fiat dealer in hull (local dealer would not help), many thanks to them and yourself, got part on order, will find out on friday if it works. many thanks.

fitted new relay today (brown one next to battery),it started fine from stone cold, run ok for about 30 mins, then tickover started to get lower and lower then juddered to a halt. it would then not start at all, engine spins over but no signs of firing. must be engine temperature related. only thing i havnt changed is the pump in the tank, the pump does buzz when ignition turned on.....any more ideas?:bang:

The pump in the tank is known to break up usually around 260K so would be worth checking

I think i will have to try this, as i am running out of ideas. The engine check light does not come when it stops so thats why i am hoping its more mechanical rather than say ecu.....the pump sounds fine when presuring up, no funny noises. Anyhoo ttfn.

Hi Driff
I had the same thing happen on my 2Lt jtd. the garage changed a valve on the injection pump (stop valve i think) any way that cured it for about a year and then it started cutting out again - somtimes start straight away or you would hve to leave it a for a while. untill one day it suddenly packed up
Got towed to the fiat dealer and they said its the valve again but there was a lot of dirt in it!! so the took the tank out and cleaned it. I have no problem with that since, about 3 years I hope this helps

regards
Paul

hi to all, might have cured it today, had it running for over an hour and it seems ok. right then, opened up the loom and found that the wires that feed the injectors are all wrapped up together in a twisted pattern, some of them must be subjected to heat and the plastic sleeving has cracked and hardened, possibly chaffing (engine movement), some wires had become exposed and might be shorting against each other. have wrapped the wires in tape as a quick bodge before wrapping the loom back up and it seems to be ok. I WOULD RECOMMEND EVERYONE TO EXAMINE THERE WIRING FROM THE INJECTORS TO THE BRAIN ON THE DRIVERS INNER WING, ITS ONLY ABOUT 2-3 FEET. any body else had this problem? now i have to try and claim some money back from garage who said wiring was ok.....:slayer:
