Hi Folks,
I have a 1999 1.9TD EL van sitting on my drive at the moment that's going to need at least 2 new tyres after the failed track rod end has been replaced.
The slight aggravation is that I don't have an owner manual for the vehicle, and while I know that the tyres on it now are 206/65/15 the thing I want to find out for certain is what the load index is for the vehicle. If I'm reading it correctly, the max axle weight is on the rear, 1300 Kgs, so I am then presuming that the tyre has to have an absolute minimum of 650 Kgs capacity at it's rated speed, and that appears to be an LI of 93.
If that's correct, what's raised this query is that I have seen a brand of tyre that is the correct size, and has a load index of 94, with an H speed rating, which in theory at least means that it could be fitted on the vehicle.
I'm getting conflicting information from 2 different people about the suitability of this tyre, one is saying yes, it's OK, and the other is saying, No, it's a car tyre and not suitable.
Anyone in the know out there can help please
Thanks
Steve
