I own a 1.9d scudo for business purposes. its a 2001 model with 110k on the clock, it always starts in the morning ok, but after a couple of minutes it will cutout, i can start it again straight away ok, if i have a motorway run its fine, its normally driving slowly around villages etc, it doesnt matter wether its cold or warm outside, another thing i noticed the other day too, when the problem occurs with the cutting out the speedo needle will behave like a tachometer rev meter when i change gear!! i have had all piping from the tank to the engine checked and tested for air leaks etc, i havent had it on a diagnostic machine as yet, does it sound like an ecu problem??

cheers

Carl

Would that cause both problems? what sort of costs would be involved getting this rectified ?

Cheers

Its quite common with the crank sensor. Once the engine reaces temp it normally cuts out and then wont restart again untill its cooled down. its pretty easy to change the crank sensor and their not expensive either.

Great stuff, thanks for your replies, where would be the best place to purchase one of these sensors??

i am gifted in the world of handtools so could probably do it myself, years ago i changed the valve guides on my e reg fiesta 1.6 (i was only 18!!) with the good old cvh engine!! very scary and exciting sat in the drivers seat once i had done it, took me about 3 hours one morning i took of work, garage had quoted me about £300!! the parts where only £38 pound, the scary bit was removing the plit collets of the valves, making sure not to drop them down one of the ports!! aaahh, its nice to reminesce!!

Anyways, thanks

Thanks, can you let me know where abouts the crank sensor is? does anyone have the scudo manual on file, perhaps email me a piccy?

just to check the leads etc, i had the same problem on my wifes renault clio, i removed the crank sensor, cleaned it, used an air gun to clean the connector, put the sensor back and i haven't had a problem since.

Thanks, Carl.
