Hi all, hope you might be able to shed some light on a problem with my 2.0 jtd scudo 2000 x-reg. The problem is in this cold weather it takes ages for the engine to warm up to its normal temp of about 80ish degrees and as a result im not getting much heat from the heater till the engine is warm. In fact if im just trundling in slow moving traffic (stop/start) the engine temp actually cools down or the same happens if im stationary with the engine just on tickover the temp will drop. My first thought was thermostat so ive replaced this and flushed heater matrix and this made no difference, ive checked that the electric fan is not permanently on and its not loosing any water. Is there only one thermostat on this engine?

Its fine in the summer and it seems to drive ok so im all out of ideas any help is much appreciated.

My 97 1.9td warms up within about 2 miles now and I usually have to turn the heat and fan down unless its really cold.
But its way better than when I got the van
