All TomToms now come with a free database of safety camera locations.

So if your thinking of buying a satnav from a shop make sure they are aware of the offer.

Re: Free Speed Cameras With All New Tomtoms

Isn't the database only about £1-2 assuming you pay for it?

Re: Free Speed Cameras With All New Tomtoms

Yeah they're database is quite good, the best I've seen for aftermarket speed cameras... Garmin's speed camera database does top it though, and the alerts are much better, however it doesn't alert you to Red Light Cameras (as of yet) which is handy. Also you have a TomTom so me telling you this is pointless :p

Have a surf on the internet, and you should come up with some speed camera POI sites, however as I've said, as far as I know PocketGPSWorld is the best... Please correct me if I'm wrong though :)

Re: Free Speed Cameras With All New Tomtoms

My Sis just bought a TT510 from Halfords, shouls she have been given some sort of card to buy this offer?

There is speed camera warnings already on the unit cos I looked just wondering if this offer is the subscription for a year or not?

It's 30 Euro if anyones wondering.

Re: Free Speed Cameras With All New Tomtoms

yeah go back and ask for the sticker (it's yellow btw)

if they dont have any tell them you want them to get one in from another store.

they will probibly say "the offer doesn't exist" if so get them to phone the Borehamwood store and ask Dave or danny, or Carlos the manager, they will confirm that the labels should be included with the satnav taped to the outside. and should have come in with last weeks stock.

if they start getting pissy, just say right in that case, i want a refund and i'll go and buy one from another store. (y)

when it comes to getting anything done with halfords, remember the rules:
1.) be nice as soon as you start getting uptight they wont want to help you
2.) a fit girl always helps (get your sister to flirt a bit :p)
3.) customer is almost always right, make sure you speak to the manager (but first speak to the ripspeed staff)

good luck.

yes but its free if you contribute a camera location, or download from p2p or torrent.

pocketgps is the best available because it is updated constantly, covers all types of camera, and has many more locations than any other vendor. its made by the people for the people. :)

tomtom is out of date before you even get it. its only good for gatsos

Re: Free Speed Cameras With All New Tomtoms

PocketGPS world database is free, and is good, but is only as good as the people who upload to it.

It's good in some areas and in others (like mine) it's rubbish. Less than a quarter of the many speed cameras in my area were on the last update. That's why I voted to go for (And pay the extra) the Garmin Speed Camera Updates. Fantastic the way they work with the unit, and I've been quite a few places recently and it's never missed a camera. It's also directional so doesn't give you false alerts :)

Re: Free Speed Cameras With All New Tomtoms

Update on this, got my sis to phone halfords and they said it's 1 free download for TT Go and TT Euro only and the TT510 and upwards already has it.

Maybe this needs clarified or was Halfords lying?

I'm not sure its free, i have been a member of pocketgps for a few years and the database has always been subscribers only, unless they have changed it recently without telling me:confused: lol. Its 20quid a year which is a bargain i think, and the files cover all the major sta nav systems out there, plus a new bit of software that will install them on your system auto when you hook it up to your computer.
The data base is very comprehensive with loads of potential mobile sites in there as well.
