Hi,

New member.
I recently purchased a Fiat Ulysses on an 04 plate (6 Months ago), and love the car. Its perfect for my family requirements even though it is known for electrical issues. It has the RT3 or 4 Sat Nav built in.
Recently the main monitor display crashed and would boot to the blue Fiat screen only. The radio would the intermittently try to re boot with the red LED lit. Also most of the radio buttons only seemed to work intermittently if at all.
This appears to be a very common fault!
After much searching of the internet and several calls suggesting there was going to be an expensive bill for replacing the head unit as the only fix, I decided to try a hard reboot by removing the fuse from the rear of the head unit. Upon removing the air ducts to get to the rear wiring to create enough slack to remove the head unit I found that there is a wire wrapped in black cloth that is taped to the top of the air ducts. This appeared to run directly to the rear of the main display unit.
This was separate from the rear of main Head connection block.
Re connected and Surprise, surprise the main screen now working again as normal. An easy fix that could of potentially cost hundreds following the experts advice.
Once it booted I realised the buttons only worked intermittently as until you escape out of the initial warning message on the main display after it starts the buttons do not work.
So if you have the reboot screen of death and radio switches on and off to reboot continually. Check this connection first.
Hope this helps someone else.

Thanks

Craig
