Hi All,

I have the dashboard port on my 500 and have read on here that the 500 SatNav is rubbish, so was thinking about splashing out on the TomTom.

I know that the Blue & Me TomTom is really for the Evo, but can you plug it into a 500 and it will work? I have read that the Blue & Me bits won't work properly, but I don't know what this gives you anyway!

So the question really is - if I plug it into my port will it power it and give me directions to where I want to go?

Any help gratefully received!

Jane

Yeap, it will work. The dasboard connector will power the satnav and the TomTom will work as a standalone nav system, but that's enough imho. As you mentioned currently the Blue&Me software in the 500 does not support the tomtom nav

So I bit the bullet and splashed out.

I know it's expensive for a standalone TomTom, but it fits well in the dash port, and I've just had a small bonus that covers it, so what the heck.

I haven't had a Sat Nav before and this is really clear and easy to use. I even managed to download Darth Vader and Billy Connolly as extra voices.

Just need to badger Fiat now to upgrade the B&M in the 500 so it will pair. :bang:

Or you can buy a Tomtom GO750 for 210€ and Fiat Part 0071805795 for 43€+
Then you have the same functions as with the 350€ FIAT Tomtom and can even use it in other cars because you also get the suction mount kit with the tomtom.

But maybe Blue&Me 5.5 supports the FIAT Tomtom in the 500 ?
Then you would have an advantage with the FIAT Tomtom.

Ah cool, so the TomTom Fiat sat nav fits into the dash thingy on the 500? I got the Blue & Me Map with my car, and I really don't like it and want to go back to TomTom but don't want wires hanging about, so I might go for the one that's available on the website. Is it just the blue & me stuff that doesn't work with the 500? Hopefully they will be a blue & me update that syncs the TomTom to it soon :)

I've got a TomTom 730T which I hoped would fit the cradle and be able to be used in my TwinAir dashboard dock but unfortunately the 730T has a different connection so the cradle wasn't compatible. I bought the BLUE&ME TomTom and after a little hassle with TomTom about using the latest map guarantee I was sent the latest UK & Western and Central Europe map and the unit has been first class.

Even if used just as a SatNav (if car not built after Sept 2010) it is a good buy but with all the other applications on compatible cars it is really first class.

Anyone with a dash dock who wants a sat nav system this is a no brainer, I just wish I had the dock on the new 500 Abarth so that I could transfer it to the new car.

Hi

I have the original 2009 500 B&M SatNav - Martelli plugged into the dashboard socket - we've not taken any firmware updates since the car was delivered.

As previously discussed here and other threads - this SatNav is not good - no postcode search, no map updates without buying new SD cards etc.

What are my options to upgrade and replace it please - extracting from previous replies in this thread - and other threads :

Ditch my B&M Sat Nav
Buy a 71805795 54k dashboard socket mount - for TomTom
Should I then buy any old TomTom - or a particular one that may work in the furture with firmware updates .?

Or is there a better solution - that integrates with B&M ie dips the audio to read directions etc .?

Thanks in advance

Dickie

Sorry to jump on this thread but I am buying a blue&me tom tom for my 500 and I want to upgrade the radio. I have the socket on my dashboard I was just wondering where the audio comes from if it doesnt interface with blue&me

A short post to complete the thread for me

I had been called by Fiat Customer Services after I bought the car to see if everything was OK - I had mentioned the failings in the standard SatNav that was available when I bought my car.

They have kept this complaint open with me for 18 months - and we finally closed it last month when I accepted from them the Punto Evo TomTom system - basically what is descibed above - the dock for the dashboard and the Blue&Me Tom Tom.

It doesn't interface with Blue & Me - it uses the speaker on the back of the Tom Tom - it does however plug into the dash and charge up from this port - no suction cups & wires.

I was given Europe edition with all maps - and as it's a TomTom it updates itself when plugged into the PC - speed cameras, mapshare, POI etc.

It's not 100% replacement - but it works really well

Thanks
