Hi,
I'm new on this forum :D
Yesterday I went to pick up my first car: a Fiat punto evo.
We took the blue&me tomtom navigation as an option.
All worked well upon receiving, the guy showed us how it worked.
Today I hook it up to my pc and connect with TomTom Home.
"A newer map is available" it said. "Sure why not" and updated it.
Now my TomTom just won't do anything anymore and I get this message from it: "You can't use this map on this navigation system: Europe-143"
In TomTom home it says this map should be activated first with a promotion code, yet none have I found.
What do I have to do?

thank you

Sorry to hear that also! This is sounding more like a TomTom/Evo problem.

Rather than copy my previous response, it's in the other thread....

My solution was to buy a new map. :bang:

I too was confused by the activation message, but please do not waste any time trying to read their FAQs on the matter. They are totally out of date online. I spent ages going around in circles trying to find out how to activate my map. Turns out, you can't. It does it itself, or at least that is what should happen. Activation is only for older TomTom devices.

The activation of the map is TomToms way of protecting their maps. A downloaded map can only be used on the device it is intended for. You can't even copy it onto a memory card and use it another device.

Looks to me like it may be the activation that is the issue rather than corrupted download. I'm wondering if it is downloading the wrong map for the Evo TomTom? I could see that being an obvious mistake by their tech guys.

EDIT:
A rather important note.

If anyone else is reading this who has a TomTom and has not used the first free update yet (Latest Map Guarantee), make sure you BACKUP your TomTom first. The option is within the TomTom Home software and it allows you to backup your current TomTom device to your computer. Then if your update goes wrong you can at least restore your device back to the initial setup. Something I've learned the hard way.

Hello.

Thanks for the warning.
I received my Evo Last Friday.
It is also with Blue&me and TomTom.
My problem is that I can not connect my TomTom and My Nokia 6303 at the same time.
According to the manual I have set up the Nokia first to the Blue&me, when I connect the TomTom after that the connection with my Nokia is broken.
My Blue&me won't accept 2 connections.
Is it possible on your system?

Wim

Ok

just found out it is my nokia 6303.
When trying an old nokia 6021 from a neigbour, it worked fine.

So it is not a blue&me problem but a Nokia problem.

I got exactly the same error message "You cannot use this map with this device".

And I didn't do a backup first.

BUT Tomtom support did resolve the problem. One file on the Blue & Me device is corrupt (or the incorrect version).

If you rename the file and then restart the Tomtom device it will rebuild the offending file.

The file is a META file - it will be in the TomTom EUROPE folder.

Look for something like Europe-132-meta file.

If you rename it by adding old_ to the front of the filename and restart the TomTom it should then allow you to re-update it correctly.

Took me a week to sort it out - but it will work fine once this is done.

Adding old_ will allow you to rename it back so you don't break it for ever !!
