Parents tomtom wouldn't start recently saying there was no map available. I stuck it on tomtom home and updated the software - and still no maps. There isn't even a map available to upload to the device.

It came with UK maps and now has nothing.. where do I go from here? It's just over a year old.

How long was the warranty?

Did you back up the software on the PC?

Has the map been deleted or is it just not working correctly?

There is a reset button on tomtoms at the bottom you will need a pin/needle or straightened paperclip, to do this. This may help.

have you checked the sd cards contents
my my guide came with a map disk

should be able to retrive some 4 year old map data from mums if you want

As I said today check the contents of the SD card. If its missing drop me a PM and I'll give you a link to a fresh copy .

If it's the XL model, it doesn't have a reset button or removeable SD card.
To perform a reset on these, you need to press & hold the on button for about 15 seconds.

Really annoying when the f'king thing refuses to work, you're in a strange area & it's Saturday afternoon with a Bank Holiday coming up.

They have put some help files on the device (if you can access it) but these tell you nothing about the device or where to ring for help.

I managed to find a phone number by using my mobile to get on the web.
Spent about £6 hanging on the line waiting for help.
