Hello, has anyone had the 500 inbuilt maps system for a while and is it a load of tosh as people have said? It was relatively new last time I looked on here so it may just have been crappy first gen version or it may just be crap.

I like the idea of a plop it in the slot integrated system but it's no good if it doesn't work very well.

:(

I also am considering this system - are the maps more up-to-date than 2007??? Is the postcode search cr*p?

I can't find any useful information anywhere on the internet in english. even if I 'FGI'! :D

Regards

It is hard to find any useful information about the system. Any I have found tends to compare it to Tom Tom etc. and tends to say it's crap. I am not sure if it even has a postcode service. Reading the manual it says about putting the town name in etc. It all sounds like a bit of an afterthought for something that could have been superb. I guess a demo at a dealer would be good; the last time I went to my dealer they didn't have any 500's with the port. The stock they had of the maps didn't seem complete either. I am sure some people on here must have they system; trouble is people tend to not read this section much and stick with the main part of the forum.

Grrr.

:bang:

I bought one and regret it. It is complicated and yes, crap! No manual to read except somewhere online, and that is difficult to find too. When you find it, it gives no help.

Stay away from 500's Blue & Me Map, it's crap, expensive (only local maps, living in the Netherlands I only have the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg. Routing is not logical, maps are out of date, no updates available.

I'm considering the TomTom Ble&Me, it doen't pair with the 500's Blue&me sytem yet (maybe Fiat will release a software uodate somewhere in the future) But it does fit in in the Dashboard port and at least you don't have all the cables hanging arround.

On http://www.fiat500blog.de/ a German weblog i found:

Groeten uit Nederland

wow, I wonder what can I do if I don't have that piece that covers the hole in the dashboard. I thought it came along with the blue&me box, but it's just the mount without the part where the mount fits into.

I've just got my 500 last week and got the Blue & Me map with it, and do regret it a bit as the maps are from 2007 and I can't find any updates anywhere for it yet. I'm considering going for the Tom Tom one if I can be sure it fits into the space on the dash and it works with Blue & Me.

I'm also having trouble with the volume with the Blue & Me map, it's really quiet even though my volume is set to the highest on the actual map. Is there a way to turn it up using the steering wheel?
