any other garmin got traffic for around £100?

to be honest dave i would go look at the older models, near all of these came with traffic compatibility and if you look hard enough people are selling them really cheap, im talking about the nuvi 300 310 or 350 or something like that. they are 2 generations ago but if you buy it new you will have latest software and maps for free with minimal effort. you can buy the traffic reciever cable from any garmin retailer usually, from their website or ebay lol. some models came with it! ive the 310D myself with the traffic cable, patience paid off and i got it for 30 quid, gona try my luck and see if i can get the display one for the same price and the model is now suspended ;)

sorry i forgot to click the link there, the streetpilots would be one of my least favourite models, too bulky, but in saying this there arent that many sales so stores have excess stock and put a massive discount on them, halfords reduced one of the newish streetpilots from 250 to 125 and they all sold out within days, im sure other people are doing the same. one other thing i found is the menus are a wee bit more different not letting you do as much as you could in the nuvi range which i found frustrating. these were designed for permanent fixture to hgv's and lorries. hence size for 2 speakers to overcome engine noise and inability to easily remove it

in one word no lol
the streetpilot is about 3 or 4 times thickers than the nuvi range, so while the nuvi range has one speaker directing backwards the streetpilot has two speakers, one at each side so lorry drivers can hear it better, theres just some differences in the abilities of the menu, one that really got to me was inability to drag map in streetpilot tho all nuvis can do it, dont know if theyve fixed that yet

Love my streetpilot 510.
It may be a bit bulky and I can't get it to do the yoda voice but it does everything I want a sat nav to do.
I've noticed one or two on ebay listed as faulty and going very cheap. If the fault is that it fails to power up, it's definatly worth a punt as the fix, from personal expirence, is an easy one.

Remove the front cover and then undo the four screws holding it together. Inside you'll find a battery and a connector block. Disconnect it for about 30 seconds then reconnect. Put it all back together and it should power up as normal.

Like I say, this is from personal experence. Mine went down, but after trawling the web I came across a fix-it site. It seems to be becoming a common fault on the 510's judging by the amount of thanks this bloke was getting from 510 users.

cool, all the garmin range is at a great price these days. looking foward to the new 2008 range though. hope to see some new features :D

the streetpilot is same as what i was using and found it good, but it my daughters and she passed her test now so i dont have it no more.
so are all the others not as loud as that, because i had to have it up full all the time

And you wanted to load a strip club list on her navigator? :D

For the traffic support, Garmin is hitting the market with the 2x5 series, a 2x0 on steroids, and you can get the 2x5T version with the new GTM-25 traffic receiver.

i dont understand what all this means either
"For the traffic support, Garmin is hitting the market with the 2x5 series, a 2x0 on steroids, and you can get the 2x5T version with the new GTM-25 traffic receiver."

Oh, that.

Until now Garmin had the 2x0 series on the market, the 200, 250, 270 and their wide versions, the 200W, 250W and probably also a 270W (but I have never seen that).

Now they have just launche the 2x5 series, the 205, 205W, 255, and 255W. If they are sold with a traffic receiver (the GTM-25) a T is added to the name: 205T, 255WT.

The middle digit tells you what kind of map is loaded. In Europe 0 means a single nation, 5 means all the 33 nations covered by Garmin in Europe, 7 means both Europe and the US on the same navigator. In the US 0 means the lower 48 states, and 5 means the whole US and Canada.

The '5' continental units also have TTS, Text-To-Speech, i.e. they can read aloud the name of the streets telling you "turn right on Oxford Street" instead of "turn right".

Soon a 265/265W should appear, with bluetooth, as a ten in the model number shows BT (310/360...)

An 8 (Nüvi 880) means that it has an MSN receiver for the North American market.

The 2x5 series has a faster CPU than all the previous models, and a lot of other new features.
