I need to buy a sat nav for my work's van, need's to be idiot proof, as I have five different drivers using the works van, only really needs to be used when new build areas are not on in the map books, this one seems a good price, I work for a charity so need to keep the price down, Is it worth buying a refurbed one or a new one? bearing in mind, as a charity we get the VAT back, everyones opinon gladly excepted.

brand new, and cheaper

url deleted,

i didnt read the small print :p

medion go pal 250 are £99.97 in tesco

doubt any sat navs would be good for new builds, will depend on when the software was installed

it may just be cheaper to buy a new map

[eh i,m not going 2 mention women & map reading:D ] <joke

I've found my tomtom easier to use than other brands of sat nav.. No buttons to remember what they do - it's all touch screen apart from the power button :D

You can even activate a 'basic' mode which hides all the advanced options.. Great for making it as easy to use as possible.

please dont buy the 330, they were new at £99.. about a year ago... they have old SIRF*2 (old) technology in them, and they are not touch screen.

we couldn't get rid of our old ones.

if you can, spend the extra on an f20, tomtom one or something similar, unfortunatly with this kinda thing you do get what you pay for.

Toys R Us are now selling Medion Go-Pal for £59.99 peeps cheap and cheerful .

only really needs to be used when new build areas are not on in the map books

the map books are made using data provided by the same agency (Ordnance Survey) that also provide data for sat nav maps.

this means if something is not on the latest paper map it will almost certainly not be on the latest sat nav map.

the problem with sat nav maps is the vendors dont release new maps every time an update is provided by Ordnance Survey, instead they only release once enough changes have been made to warrant it.

this is starting to change as sat nav vendors are realising that there is big money in regular map updates, so hopefully more regular updates will occur in the future. that will no doubt mean the price of subscription will increase. i dont recommend downloading pirate maps online for company use, an individual can ignore licensing, an organisation can not.

Yup totally agree with both statements.
