Hi All,

I've inadvertantly broken the cd for my girlfriends Ulysee sat nav..its a navteq. Does anyone know where I can get a copy or download it to burn to disc. I tried Fiat but they want £212!

help pls i'm getting real grief!

You see this is where the law gets really confusing, ie your allowed to make a backup copy (of some things), but arent meant to use it, then with stuff like this happens and you dont have one, but legal still own a licence then getting another copy would be a grey area, as you would just be replacing a disk you (your gf) owned in the first place. Hopefully some kind soul will pm you with an offer of a backup. But ebay is prop the best bet, in fact the only bet if they dont.

In fact does it use the SDAL Map format? I dont know as i dont have one. But if so then i wonder if it would be cross compatable with the BMW/Mazda/Merc dvd.... although i guess that only works if the original was a dvd rather than cd, although i'm sure they're would be a way of separating out the maps as that dvd must contain europe as well if FIAT Navteq can fit the UK on a CD.

I know that some software companies will replace your disc for a nominal fee if you send the damaged one in. .not so with the Fiat dealers.

I dont know what the map type is but have the part no T1000-8531 and a picture of the broken cd/dvd (not sure which type) It would be good if the navteq from another make of car could be used as this would increase my chances of getting one off ebay etc. sadly no fiat ones on ebay at present.

Any help identifying the disc/map type or compatability would be well recieved.

Have you tried calling the no on the cd? Or emailing Navteq?

Was there ever one? How do you break a CD? Personally i'd like some proof before I dish out certain info

well ive had one in my pocket before just beacuse i had nowhere to put it at the time, then sat down, snap!

rule of thumb, dont put CD's in your pocket

This is totally on the level, what happend was I wanted to play a cd so took the navteq cd out ant put it in the storage compatrment with some other cds and closed the lid. . crunch! broken cd! as per pic.

I did phone the number on the cd but was told by navteq to go to a fiat dealer. I told them what had happened and they said they would be happy to exchange it for £212! ... wish it was the james blunt cd that got snapped. lol!

Have to say my windows Me disk got badly scratched, have had many audio cds scratched etc. It would be fine if they were put straight into there cases, but as we all know that never happens. Also stood on a cd in a case before and cracked it.

Can you send them the 2 parts & say a token £15 in exchange for a replacement?

No joy with Fiat Dealers but got it sorted another way!. Thanks for your help and suggestions.. all who posted/emailed.

Blimey, I've not been on this forum for about 3 years, but pleased to say my 52 reg Uly is on 108K and going strong.

Anyway, I have the same problem with my sat nav disk. It's got so scratched it's now unplayable. And yes I know its my own fault, and no, I didnt take a backup! but if anyone can help stop a poor soul from getting lost (literally) that would be great

*cough* dont PM Stu as he is very useful when it comes to these things *cough*

i'm in the same boat here. scratched the disc and can't find a replacement on ebay. navteq want £95 for a new one.
how did corbiere get sorted. feel free to pm me if you don't wish to say in public.
