Hello.
I doubt the 105 is the same digiplex as the 130. We had to change ours aswell, after the water coolant hose going across the engine top blew, and the temp rose sky high after only seconds (going on the highway). It might have been a coincidense that it failed, but it happened shortly after. The cams "hardening" also got damaged by the overheating, and two exhaust cams wore down to nothing after a few weeks. The top and gaskets were fine though. The cam problem showed as great balls of smoke and boooms firing thought the intake... working against the rest of the engine. Fireballs out through the intake are usually due to wrong mixture, adjustment of the carburettors etc. It's easy to notice on the solex carburettors as the 4 air intakes are red plastic - which melt. The weber version had metal air intake. A wrong ECU might calculate wrong and cause these symptoms.
