Hi all. Need some help and advice please. I’ve been trying to get my cabrio started for the first time in 25 years. (It’s in a bit of a sorry state really)
Can anyone tell me a simple way to get it fired up. I’ll keep it short so not to bore anyone. Basically the engine is turning. I have sparks at the plugs. No fuel delivery so I’ve poured some straight down the carburettor. Would this help to at least get her fired up momentarily? It all sounds normal on turning over but no fire up? Any ideas anyone or anything I’ve perhaps overlooked?

Fuel down the carb can work but is more likely to wet/dampen the spark plugs too much.

Back to basics I'm afraid:

1) Remove plugs and check (clean and gap)
2) Pour a little engine oil (no more than 5cc) into each bore
3) Rotate engine by hand couple of turns
4) Compression test (finger over spark plug hole)
5) Fix the fuel delivery - does the electric pump run (don't think the cabrio had a mechanical pump but check)
6) Remove air filter cover and look down carb choke. Operate throttle plate. You should se a squirt of fuel from the accelerator pump
7) Remove accessible air/fuel jets (one at a time) and check for blockages

If still now luck then you may have stuck float chamber / valve so you will have to take the top off the carb to check this. Whilst there there may be some more jets to check

On the compression then if compression is down due to damaged rings or stuck valves then the engine if not going to fire at all.
