Does anyone know who supplied the Fiat Strada's run in the British GpN championship in the mid 80's? Someone told me they were all supplied as a batch with similar number plates to the press car. One was run by SLM (St Leonards motor group) and two others by Asquith and Marshall although they seem to be a few others early in the season. Did SLM supply them? Where they the main importers in the UK?
I hope to build my Strada into a race spec car, just not decided on the spec yet as a strict showroom class does not exist in the UK for historics.

I've had a look in my archives of old Fiat World magazines an nothing really came out other than the later UK Fiat Challenge rally series for the likes of the Uno.

For Group N race in the 80s then I guess we are talking Slick 50, BRSCC/AutoItalia Italian Intermarque, etc. I can't recall the Strada being used in pro end such as the BTCC. Only Alfa Romeo took on the big end with Fiat financial backing.

As now then back in 80s all cars were imported by FIAT UK through their Bristol docks centre. To my knowledge Fiat dealers could not directly import from the factory although there was nothing to stop them buying from European or even UK dealers.

As with Fiat UK Press Cars then the Strada's you are referring to were possibly sourced directly from Fiat UK at Slough. They would most probably used Fiat Motor Sales (massive place with all parts in stock) (became REVERA and now no longer exists) to register the cars.

If you can get a number plate then this would be a great start.

Thanks for the reply. The press car was A987 KLB and my car is A981 KLB. LB seems to be north east London according to the web. Gerry Marshalls grand son is looking at his records as he is sure the two cars they ran were bought direct from Fiat and maybe my car was from there too.
